Re: Someone put my mind at ease
Preferably you don't poke anything in the jets to clean them, use compressed air instead if you have a compressor, otherwise you could use carb cleaner aerosol. But to run as roughly as you're describing you should be able to see the bits of crud in the jets. See it before I strip everything down? ...

Re: Someone put my mind at ease
Just re-read the link to the superhawk forum that Wicky posted to me in another thread re stripping the carbs, doesn't look too scary. Just think Monday is going to be a longer than normal. Is cleaning the carbs just using a pin or similar to clear the jets? Not done this before so I may have a very...

Re: Someone put my mind at ease
I would go back to first principle(that point at which it was running fine) loose the air filter and put the standard back on dump the fuel, put fresh in, drain the carbs so you know there is fresh fuel in them when you turn her over. if it has not changed, start with the cheapest first: check plug...

Someone put my mind at ease
Hi all, Further to a post a I put up on here a couple of weeks ago regarding the misfire and poor running. Re: 16ltr tank modification question !
I've run empty before and filled up, bike on side stand rather than upright, but it wasn't anywhere near 16 litres, think it was more like 14 at the very most!

Re: My 127" big twin project (56k warning!)
No that's perfect mate cheers. I'll sign up to britchoppers to see the build thread.
The idea I've got in my head is something along the lines of the new 48 sportster Harley bought out last year.
Bit more planning and lots more saving yet!
Thanks again for the reply very interesting!

Re: My 127" big twin project (56k warning!)
Hi FM, If you've got time would you be able to put together a post on how you got started with the planning of putting the bike together? Any useful sites with good advice etc. It's something I've always wanted to build, not sure I'm man enough for an Ultima lump tho! Finding the info to plan buildi...

Re: The worst forum by far....
That's absolutely stunning! I want a project soon can't decide between a nice Harley Bobber, cafe racer or just a nice original CBX.

Re: HELP!!
After an hour of fruitless pumping on the clutch lever dad remembers he's got a top notch vacuum bleeder!
10 minutes later clutch back to normal!
Still running rough as rats tho, wish I hadn't bothered with that carb cleaner now!
Cheers for all help guys!

Re: Another problem, Misfire
Refilled with brand new fuel today, It does have some ProFi Carb Cleaner in it which I put down to making the initial rough running as bad as it was?
I'll have to take it out and hope it clears.
Argh bloody thing is driving me round the twist today!

Another problem, Misfire
Ok so after getting the chain and sprockets sorted and finding where my clutch had decided to venture off to, I fired the bike to let it warm up. I've read the other misfire threads but nothing is similar to the problem I've got. Bike fired up fine but ran like a total bag of nails, eventually clear...
Re: HELP!! No Clutch!!!
Just put everything back together and no clutch!!!! I'm a bit surprised as I took notice of the warning on the knowledge base chain and sprockets thread and locked off the slave with a g clamp. Have attempted bleeding, slave cylinder moves when the lever is pulled but won't disengage the clutch. Whe...
Re: HELP!!
Oh yeah less than 2 miles so should be ok! Going to have another look now while putting everything back together.
