No pressure on front brake.

Following a high speed slide off last summer (and now recovered from my injuries!) I'm just completing repairs to my '98 Firestorm to get it back on the road ready for the spring. The bike went down hard on it's right hand side, snapping the front brake lever amongst other damage, and once I got the...

Re: Hello To Everyone...

I'm still getting my head round how this web site works so apologies for my ignorance Apparently you have some modified CCTs (see query on the Workshop section). Have you got any left and how much are you after?

Manual CCTs

My 98 Firestorm has done a genuine :confused 18K miles. The more I read about VTRs, the more paranoid I get about the potential failure of the original CCTs. The bike doesn't get mercilessly thrashed but I don't hang about either. What are other people's views on the immediate need to fit manual CCTs...

Re: Fork maintenance

I've recently fitted some progressive Hagon springs so they should be OK. It looks like 7.5 - 10 wt oil is preferable. I think I understand the fitting of the cap onto the damper, I can always confirm the details when I get round to doing the work. Thanks for the advice.

Fork maintenance

While my 'Storm is in dry dock following a recent spill I thought I would take the opportunity to check out my forks which haven't been working as well as I believe they should. I was thinking of changing the fork oil to 15Wt. What are other people's thoughts? Also, I don't seem to find any referenc...

Clonking front forks

Over the winter I took time to rebuild the forks on my ,98 Storm. Replaced springs with Hagon units, fitted new inner and outer bushes, rebuilt as per the manual and there is a (small) clonk on full compression. Is this normal or is there something else I should check? The head bearings were checked...

Wheel touch up paint

I have a 98 Firestorm and recently decided to remove the bright yellow rim tape put on by a previous owner. Some of the wheel paint has lifted in a few places. Has anyone got any ideas on some cheap touch up paint which won't look too botched?
