They're Beetlebags made by Corbin, and they're hard. I got mine on Ebay with a little road rash and fixed them with some fiberglass and paint. All told I've got $300-$350 invested. They run $1000 new from Corbin. Definetly try to find them used. The VTR motor is apparently GREAT for sport tourers, a...

VFR800 Tank install

Thought I'd share my VFR tank install pictures. I finally got around to painting the thing after pulling the tank and adding a better gasket between the petcock and adapter plate. It was fine between the adapter plate and the tank, but the silicone sealant I used to seal around the petcock went all ...

Vacuum cap. I installed a t-fitting on the line running to the petcock so I can sync the carbs w/o having to futz with the lines.

Oh yeah, anybody got a link to microfiche for bikes over there? I can get on bikebandit.com and ronayers.com and look up the microfiche on all the US bikes, but they don't have any of the european models. If I could see the exact change between the carb and FI varadero, it'd make life easier, and mi...

Yellafella, Hey there, some of us actually do care about fuel mileage... Of course my reasons are a bit varied: 1. My truck averages 15 mpg, the bike averages just over 30. 2. The bike does wheelies, the truck does not. 3. I can park the bike about a block from work for free... As for fuel prices, I...

Fuel Injection

Anybody thought to fit the FI setup from a wrecked Varadero? I'm keeping my eyes open on Ebay for one. It's the same motor, so I'd imagine it can't be too difficult. I commute every day on mine, so I'd be willing to give up say 5hp for the fuel efficiency and reliability of FI. I already fitted an '...

Ok guys, I've gotta pipe up for my boy from Kentucky (I claim KY as home, Dad's from Nicky's hometown, and I went to college there). Podium 7 out of 9 races thus far? Now that he's got the whole getting the tires to last thing sorted, he's hanging in there and is dicing it up toward the end of races...

160+ (calculated). I had her at ~9.1k in 6th, and the Hayabusa I was following hadn't dropped it wide open and left me yet. I never saw what the speedo read, it was probably pegged. I was kinda otherwise occupied watching the road at that speed. Backed out and 110 indicated felt SLOW. I plugged the ...

I've got mine set at 1170, and it seems dead on. I figured it was stupid to try and re-do all the calculations I already did and just went and pulled mine off the bike to check. 1883/1.61 = 1169.565 so 1169 or 1170 are both about right. Have fun with it. Does the 800 have a max speed capture like my...

Check the suspension settings, as the front springs from Honda are way, way too soft, and the rear is a bit too hard. I've got my front preload all the way in, and the rear set on the lowest setting, but I'm on the high side of 14 stone. I've also got a scotts damper, as I tankslapped her into a dit...

Don't forget to divide the final number by the conversion listed in the manual (1.61 according to my manual) or even though you've got the dial set to display 'MPH' you're really displaying KPH. I didn't do that on my Sigma 1200, and my test run around the block netted a max speed of 94 'MPH'. I tho...

No more vids right now, just got the mount last weekend. I also need to find some extra web space to hang them, as my internet service provider sucks monkey balls. Here's the mount: http://home.woh.rr.com/galaxieman/images/Tank-Cam1.jpg and here's the camera on the mount: http://home.woh.rr.com/gala...

Ok, I'm already in the middle of a discussion on the US VTR board about not cleaning the windshield, and the lack of field of view, but I've since cleaned the shield and added a 0.5x wide angle lens which should solve the view problem. Here's about a minute and a half of on-ramp and off-ramp stuff i...
