Re: Firestorm F3 starting issue

Thanks guys, but the starter and battery are ok - the battery is the biggest I can get into the available space. I had problems with it running down with the standard battery but this doesn't happen now. The bike is used daily for a 125mile round trip - hence the high mileage. I'll try cleaning the ...

Firestorm F3 starting issue

I have owned this machine since 2007 and apart from a duff battery have never has problems starting. It now has 74000 miles on the clock. Recently, instead of firing instantly on cold start-up, it can take up to 10 seconds continuous cranking before it fires.Fitted new plugs and cleaned leads /caps/...

Re: How to Adjust the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)

Thanks Guys After I reset the throtlle pot, I set the idle mixture using my Gunson Gas analyser, and finished up with 4% CO. This may be borderline and could cause the roughness. Otherwise, it has incredible mid-range torque. I'd be interested in other opinions on how the performance should be above...

Re: How to Adjust the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)

Does the throttle sensor setting shift the entire advance curve? If so does reducing the resistance advance or retard the timing? I checked the resistance on my F3 and it was set to 890ohms. I have some problems starting which were indicative of overadvanced ignition. I reset the resistance to 500oh...

Re: EBC Front Discs

Would you believe a 12 month/12000 mile warranty on EBC brake discs? I contacted Fowlers in Bristol ( my locality) - £119 each plus vat. No contest! :D Good for Honda. While I was at Fowlers getting some bits, I sidled over to the bike showroom and had a look at a KTM RC8 ( and sat on one - brought...

The thought had crossed my mind Benny - I think I'll get on and do it - no feedback = no improvement! Cheers.

EBC Front Discs

Hi guys I'd be interested to read your experiences with EBC front discs on the VTR. I fitted a pair around 12000 miles ago - the Honda discs lasted 32000 miles but as they cost about £250 each I went for the EBC solution. Recently I noticed the dreaded judder on braking, so I had a close look at th...

Re: occasional fault/missfire

Glad to be of some use!! :D The problem is made worse if the plug cap isn't pushed down as far as it will go - the seal then won't prevent water reaching the plug from the top. Sounds obvious but it's easy to do if you are distracted by wife or kids! :Argue: Here's a question for everyone - why did ...

Re: occasional fault/missfire

My VTR1000F3 has 45000miles on the clock and gets ridden as long as ambient temperature are over 3 or 4 degrees C. A couple of days ago I was riding home from work in the pouring rain, and at the end of the trip it went onto one cylinder. I used the car the next day. In the garage the following even...
