Bonneville, the worlds fastest.....
...A10? Yeah, ok, it's not a VTR. But thought some of you might be interested nonetheless. It started in 2012, when we had a mad idea... why not build a bike to run at Bonneville? So my mate Briz set about building a one off Weslake and along with 5 other bikes we shipped them over to the USA and se...

Re: My 127" big twin project (56k warning!)
I know it's been a while since I was last here, but looking for another VTR and thought I'd better reinvigorate the account... Anyway, I did actually finish this project off in the end, and here's what it looked like. I have since sold the bike to fun some trips to Bonneville. http://i5.photo...

Re: My 127" big twin project (56k warning!)
Been meaning to make a seat pan for a while. Never done one before, so was a bit of trial and error. Cut out a card template and made sure it was symmetrical http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y197/flak_monkey/Bike%20build/m_P1020329.jpg Then cut it out from 1.6mm steel sheet and started to whack some...

Re: Scary "moments" on a motorcycle What was your last one?
Had the back end of the XJ550 out coming off a roundabout when I had Sarah on the back as pillion. Diesel patch. Managed to rescue it, bit of speedway and a scrape on the boots.

Re: My 127" big twin project (56k warning!)
Spent most of the day laying under a Volvo welding patches on the floor...spatter in the ear hurts! In the remaining time I manged to get the instruments mounted to the tank. Its going to have a bit of fettling yet. I am hoping that with the tank being rubber mounted its going to keep the vibration ...

Re: brake piston removal
Using compressed air to remove pistons is a really bad idea. They hurt when they fly across the workshop as well. Grease is the safest and most efficient way to do it, just make sure the calipers are well washed out to remove all traces before reassembly though as mineral oil will wreck the seals. I...

Re: My 127" big twin project (56k warning!)
I have a distinct lack of motivation at the moment, unsure why. But things still continue to progress. I recieved some more parts from the water jet cutter yesterday, including the brake discs I drew up. Looks like they will fit OK, just need to check the run out and have them surface ground if nece...

Re: My 127" big twin project (56k warning!)
Thanks guys
As it stands the bikes cost around £11k. Thats with a new crate engine and box which is nearly half that total. If you weren't doing so much yourself then it would be a bit more...

Re: My 127" big twin project (56k warning!)
Getting there slowly. Now its got eyes.... Made the front indicator mounts this morning, turned up a couple of bosses chopped them up, spent ages making sure they were level and welded them to the bars. Sorry about the dodgy pics  http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y197/flak_monkey/Bike%20build/m...
