Re: Haven't been doing too much riding lately

Way cool. I like you have another distraction to motorbikes. They are my surfboards. I have been riding bikes since I was 10, so that's 47 years and surfing since I was 12. Funny at the moment I have 14 surfboards, 1 motorbike and another one due to arrive this month. Yes, bikes are important to me ...

Re: my girlfriend just found this on our porch...

If that happened to me I would visit each neighbour on an individual basis and introduce myself. It wouldn't be hard to figure out which one was upset. I would then explain the law to them and ask what they thought was a reasonable time to work on the bike. It is best to get on with your neighbours,...

Re: White Tachometer Face

Lucky guys, I still am no closer to my white tachometer face.

I think the easiest for me is to get a later set of clocks with the white tachometer face and pirate that onto my tachometer!

Must start checking the wreckers !!!

Re: some new goodies

Make sure that you have a good ring compressor and get new rod bolts to be on the safe side.

What about decking the heads?

Re: Wire wheels

There are many other things to do first but I really am interested in this. We have a couple of wheel builders nearby and I will check it out. Can't help thinking that there will be a set from another bike that can fit and I see this as the most cost effective option should I choose to go down this ...

Re: Wire wheels

All jokes aside Tony! Can it be done, and if you were to do it, how would yo go about it?(I'm sure there would be posts on here, but would rather hear it from the "Horses" mouth) I'm curious, I just like the look of bikes with spoked wheels. Could be that I am harking back to the old days ...

Wire wheels

Has anyone ever fitted spoked alloy rims to a storm like on early Dukes or the later 1000s ?

Wonder what they would look like.

Re: 900rr swinger brace

My experience with the brace is 100% positive. I have modded forks with a brace and whilst I know that they are not as good as USD's the forks and brace work well, until it comes to hard braking and the front still flexes! Why? Because the braced swinger plants the bike so much better and allows more...

Re: pineapple express

It's always good to see a bike in the condition that you have got it to.

Looks great!

I have gained a lot of satisfaction from getting my bike to where it is as I'm sure you have.

Now go out and ride it !

Re: 900rr swinger brace

Boat builder or repairer that welds alloy all the time! I'm lucky as a mate of mine is a custom boat builder and he did it for me. Also regarding the spools, the swing arm I bought had these with it. Fairly simple solution to the problem that I can't take the credit for. A piece of flat steel 1/4&qu...

Re: So what do you guys think.....

I'm jealous, the bike is something to aspire to. I am 2 years into mine and still have a long way to go to catch up. Also can't believe the mileage on the bike, but it goes to show that you can mod them and still ride them. A well cared for sensibly modded bike that still keeps up with the latest an...

Re: 900rr swinger brace

Make sure that you put your axle and disc caliper carrier bracket on to line up the bracket for the carrier on the swinger when you give it to the welder. That way you can slide the axle and carrier bracket as if you are adjusting the chain and be assured of mounting the disc carrier bracket in the ...

Re: any advice? about to swap my flywheel

What effect would removing the anti rattle gear as well as the waterpump gear and chain have as I did when I fitted the lightened flywheel along with an electric water pump. My thought was that less rotating mass would also help to spin the motor up quicker but as I did all of this together I don't ...

Re: Storm Hunting - Rust

When I bought mine the mileage was low, but it had sat in a carport with a cover on it for 3 years. The whole left hand side was corroded, the chain rusted and all the fasteners were shite. It was a blank canvas and now it looks like this. http://i1000.photobucket.com/albums/af129/kbarr2/Bike/22B671...
