Re: a bit of spondoness.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

Have you replaced the ignition lock and ignition wiring ?

Your problem is giving me a headache so I can only begin to understand what it is like for you Fabio.

Keep going mate.

Re: New Honda project bike...

Looking good mate, There must be some satisfaction in resurrection of an old beast. I am Currently working on a 96 ex Police ST1100 at the moment . Funnily enough as it is not an abs bike it has 41 mm forks as well. in 96 the non police bikes went to 43 mm here in Oz. Now I wish I hadn't of parted o...

Re: 10 yrs on this Forum

7 and a 1/2 years me. Lots learned and lots more to learn. Hopefully another 7 or more to go. Hopefully I will still be able to chuck a leg over the VTR when the body permits as I will be 70 by then. I have particularly enjoyed viewing some of the exchanges that have taken place on here. There is a ...

Re: a bit of spondoness.

What a tale of woe. I had a Yamaha XS650 years ago that behaved very badly, spent months and months chasing an elusive fault. It still pains me to this day. It turned out to be the ignition lock wiring was faulty. About the only thing I didn't do and to add insult to injury my cousin worked it out !...

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

After having had the right hand radiator repaired twice it let go again so I bit the bullet and bought a good one from a wrecker. Just replaced it and put new coolant in. Going to a Moto Guzzi rally in a couple of weeks time so thought it best to do now rather than leave it to the last minute. Also ...

Re: Carb; fine tuning question

I have a set up much like yours and experienced a similar problem that became worse over time.

It turned out to be the fuel tap diaphragm .

Just a thought.

Front Sprocket Movement

Recently replaced my chain and sprockets with a DID Xring chain and J.T steel sprockets and notice after tensioning the front sprocket bolt I can move the sprocket sideways a couple of Millimetres towards the crankcase. Is this normal ? The sprocket concerned has a rubber pad on it to run quieter . ...

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Fitted new chain and sprockets.

Went to 43 on the rear.

Only went for a short ride and so far so good.

It felt peppier than standard gearing

Going for a longer ride tomorrow.

Will see how it goes but the bike was better in 6th gear by the feel of it.

Looks like a speedo healer is needed.

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Went of a 2 tank ride and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Windy and freezing cold, one of the coldest rides I have ever done.

One guy on the ride bought a newspaper and stuffed it in his jacket he was so cold.

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Nothing much except ride it. I have owned this bike for some time now and it's never ceases to amaze me . Always fun, I like to go for rides of about 250 - 400'miles. 2 to 3 tanks of fuel is a good day out. Usually stop at a few pubs and have a couple of bevvies, nothing silly just a thirst quencher...
