Re: The Cycling Ride Thread 2015

Yes, it's a max of £1000. Some bike shops allow you to pay some pennies up front.

Just get a Giant Defy 0 or GT Grade 105 (if you want to get dirty on it occasionally.) Both great value bikes and within the scheme threshold.

Don't worry about going full carbon unless you have £2500-3k

Re: Op Storm Testimonial thread

When I organised the first Op Storm in Wales 4 years ago, it was a case of "I'm going camping in Wales and I invite you to join me" What happened next just amazed me. Great people turned up and we all hit it off from the first moment. The rides, albeit eventful in some cases, were fantasti...

Re: The Cycling Ride Thread 2015

Ok so I have found a new motivation after having influenza over Christmas and a chest infection two weeks ago. What's helped is a new toy. I managed to pick up a Garmin Edge 1000 with Heart rate, cadence and speed sensors. Love it. Been out on both MTB and Road cycle and the stats you get back are g...

Re: The Cycling Ride Thread 2014

Had another chest infection! ffs.

I picked up my road bike on Saturday and got out and did 7 miles. Seem to be ok. Just did 15 minutes on the turbo trainer. Will build up slowly.

I have a 60 mile sportive next month 8O

Re: The Cycling Ride Thread 2014

Got out and did 12.4 miles in just over an hour. Not bad considering I haven't been out on the bike properly since August 8)

I'm back, I hope!!!!

Re: The Cycling Ride Thread 2014

Yeah what AMQ said about the cycle to work scheme. I got one from my last place and didn't have to pay anything at the end. If you let it run for the full 4 years, the bike is considered such low value that companies tend to write them off. You pay up to 30-40% less and you pay for it monthly which ...

Re: Op Storm III: Yorkshire Dales 14 - 17 May 2015

Damn! I've only just noticed it's a weekend earlier this year. I was planning (if I have a bike by then) to tie it in with our family trip to Wales like I did before. Need to think about this now as 1) I'm booked on a paid MTB event, and 2) more time away from family. Dag nammit. I'll gt back to you...

Re: The Cycling Ride Thread 2015

Well as its the new year I have decided its time to get in shape so I have got my giant advanced sl carbon road bike hooked up to the turbo trainer to start before getting out on the road when the better weather comes If I can stick with it I might be up for a few challenges later in the year but n...

Yeah I know, I really like them but it's getting a shot on one for an hour or two before buying is the tricky thing.
What's your location?

The Cycling Ride Thread 2015

So I blame Al for this but I have just registered to get a road bike on the cycle to work scheme. This means I'll be getting some road miles in this year :) I should be getting it sometime towards the end of Feb hopefully :D I will not become a MAMIL though. 8O Here are the events I have signed up t...
