Re: Recomission stored VTR

If you want to be thorough you could also consider changing the fork oil.

Re: Burred main jet slot

a standard bike with standard filter and pipes?.. throw them in the bin and run honda needles and mains..thats some big ass jets for a standard bike. Hi Fabiostar, I stuck with the Dynojet needles and have fitted 170 dynojets. It seems to be running well but I haven't yet run it in anger due to cha...

Re: It's alive!

OK. I have raided the kids piggy banks and sold a kidney which has enabled me to order a D.I.D VX530 X-Ring Chain with JT sprockets from Hunters Motorcycles. I intend to get it rivetted off the bike and then fit it like an endless chain. When replacing the front sprocket would blue threadlock be OK?...

It's alive!

Hello, I have finally got the bike running and even better it is running quite nicely. Dynojet 170 jets with needles on 4th slot seem to be working well. When I went to adjust the chain I noted that it is right on the limit. I can feel the sprocket picking at it slightly on take off. What is the gen...

Re: Is anyone using Dynojet needles with the original Keihan Jets?

Contacted Allens and they advised me not to reinstall Keihin jets after having Dynojet jets fitted as the dynojet ones alter the thread slightly when installed. Apparently Dynojet are universal for both Keihin and Mikuni which have different threads, so theirs are set between the two makes. If this ...

Is anyone using Dynojet needles with the original Keihan Jets?

I have bought a bike which has a standard setup, airfilter and pipes. While cleaning the carbs I have found it has Dynojet needles and 190 main jets fitted. It is way rich according to the spark plugs. I was considering fitting DJ 170 front and 175 rear but I have read several positive experiences w...

Re: Burred main jet slot

I only used the term stage 1 to imply using standard filter and pipes. I have done the CCTs, replaced one shim. Engine is back together. Just the carbs and regulator to do and I can screw it all back together. I emailed Dynojet and they recommend their 170 mains. I think I will order a 170, 180 and ...

Re: Burred main jet slot

I have never ridden the bike. Only saw/heard it running. It started willingly enough (not surprisingly if it was so rich) but there was a noticeable ticking/clicking noise and fearing the CCTs might be on the way out so I have not yet ridden it. No slivers of metal in carbs as I burred the jet tryin...

Burred main jet slot

Hello again, stripped my carbs for cleaning and found that they are fitted with DynoJet needles. 4th slot from the top. Both carbs have a 190 main jet. I am assuming these are DynoJet jets. I tried to remove the rear jet to examine it but it is stuck fast and I have burred the slot. The bike has aft...

Rounded cam sprocket bolts

Hello again, I am replacing a shim in the rear cylinder and two of the cam sprocket bolts are slightly rounded (both the lower ones). When putting it back together I would like to replace them. Is my only option Honda original at £3.58 each or does anyone know the size and thread of these. Honda lis...

Re: Good evening ladies and gentlemen.

VFR anorak comment. I know the ticking noise you refer to on a VFR, but it's not loose valve clearances, although locknut and screw they operate on a rocker and like shims they close when in need of adjustment as opposed to a tappet getting loose. The ticking noise will be the cushioning springs be...

Re: Good evening ladies and gentlemen.

Thanks for the warm welcome. It is currently stripped and ready to check the valve clearances and install MCCTs. Just need to find the time. The good weather is coming and I want to be ready.

By the way, what years are classed as early VTRs?

Good evening ladies and gentlemen.

Hello one and all. My name is Mark and I have been riding for 30 years. Today I took custody of a 1999 VTR1000F in not quite shining red. It's a little tired, like me, with 26000 miles on the clock and 10 previous owners. It starts well enough on the choke, with a ticking noise from the engine. The ...
