Re: Insuring an Austrian bike
Hi, my last 2 bikes were jap market only bikes, and had no problem with insurance. They were both CBR 750 Hurricane's ( and still have one that I brought in 2001). I was lucky as they insured the as 600 CBR prices.

Re: Restricted exhaust as standard???
I have looked careful at the supposed restrict. I am an engineer so look at thing different to most, and into this part as to how it would of been made. It is clear that it is not a simple quick way of making the junction and being lazy in not cutting the parts so the the hole is the same size as th...

Re: Carb pipework routing
Cali bikes usually have the PAIR system (fresh air is sucked from the airbox into the exhaust manifold via a reed valve on the cam cover and a solenoid to turn the system on and off). They also have a charcoal canister to catch fugitive emissions from the fuel tank and the float bowls, and a soleno...

Exhaust cans
Well, I have got around to making my new exhaust cans / silencers over the Easter. It come with short MTC's, which were far to laud. I brought some 2nd hand originals so I could use the connecting pipes from the MTC's. When they turned up the left one had holes drilled in the end. But to heavy, ugly...

Re: CCT failure - aftermath question
Hi, you would know straight away if there was a problem. As to carb farts, don't know to much about that though having the carbs balanced helps. This link to a basic carb mod, to stop it going onto 1 cylinder wane bracing hard is helpful. http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=37696#p...

Re: Left-hand Exhuast Link Pipe Issue
If it is back to front, why is the writing on the clamp and bolt the correct way round? It also has the left hand link in the heading.

Re: Left-hand Exhuast Link Pipe Issue
Loosen all the bolts/nuts on the exhaust system - headers ect. Get it all together then re-tighten all the bolts/nuts.

Re: what bike did you have and let go but would like back
I had one of the 43 years ago, and mine was the hard tail and red. I was envious of a friend, as he had the rear shock modal . We all had to start somewhere .

Lovely job. Check this link about the carb's wile you have it apart, as to the overflow pipes to prevent it running on one cylinder after heavy braking.

Re: When is it time?
I'm 59 now and would definitely would not give up yet ( been on a bike since I was 16 with no time out). I don't get much mileage in, as I work from home, and when I have to go anywhere, I have to carry loads of metal component for my work. My days of riding to work every day of the year has long go...

Re: indicator bulb question
How would the bulb fit if it did not have the same fitment. Led or filament make no difference to were it is being fitted into. If it has a bayonet fitment, then the bulb has to. Most indicator units need the total wattage of the bulbs to go on and off, which LED's will not give, so the they either ...

Re: carb breather
Braking limits are just that. If it is the forks that are the limit then that is it. If it is the brakes them self, the same, the limit is the limit, what ever it the weakest part ( which is me). Just to say, there is nowt wrong with any of the parts on my bike, plus the bike has less that 13,000 on...
