Re: silly question

Hi. I don’t think that is a silly question, I can easily see why someone might want to lower the ground clearance and scrape their way around a gentle curve! No, seriously, I’ve been thinking about having some lower pegs available for my pillion rider. She finds the standard ones a bit uncomfortable...

Back again

Hi all. Been absent for a while, was downgraded to a bmw650 single for a spell. Surprisingly good fun tbh, but I didn’t think that it qualified me for this forum. I’m now thinking that I need a Firestorm on the road for this summer, so I need to pull my finger out and start spannering! How did the V...

I'm thinking of upgrading my riding kit and am currently impressed with Halvarssons hype. Does anybody have first hand experience of their kit? I particularly like the sound of the Celtic outfit, but haven't yet seen any. What's the verdict?

Re: VTR cam chain tensioners

A general tip.
If you are not familiar with the job in hand, and especially if it may be a while before things get reassembled, it can pay big dividends to take a digital foto of the disassembly procedure. This will then be able to jog your memory when it all goes back together.

Re: VTR cam chain tensioners

Hi. I don't have a manual but I have done this a coupla times, so from memory: Remove seat. Locate the pair of wires that emerge from below the rear of the tank and undo the connector. Remove the two securing bolts at the nose of the tank, don't lose the top hats! Remove the nut from the rear securi...

Re: Acct's

This is where things are going to get a bit tricky! Sirch has been a member forever and is a respected authority on cct's having designed, I believe, the insert mod that prevents excessive movement in the event of spring failure, a now tried and tested solution. Ace is a fairly new member, but it se...

Re: Acct's

Seconded wholeheartedly!

Carry on Ace, this is properly researched great stuff, can't understand why anybody can be negative about it when all they have to do is not read it.

Re: Fuel consumption.

So, I ran the bike until the fuel light came on, noted mileage and then ran it until it died. I got 33.4 miles on whatever is in 'reserve'. Obviously I'm not gonna bank on that in earnest, if I haven't managed to find a garage by 25 miles after the light appears, I'm gonna be puckering! Next, I fill...

Re: Fuel consumption.

Ref filling upright or on the stand, it doesn't really matter so long as you always do it the same way, then your numbers will be consistent. I always fill on the stand to the level of the nozzle restrictor bar, easiest for me.

Re: Fuel consumption.

Yes, I think that you guys are right, that is way too low. So, I have this avo refilled the tank, reset the trip, and put 4litres in a green can for my backpack. I intend to ride normally, and run it dry, see what's what. I figure that's the way ahead. I'm hoping that maybe my warning light is misbe...

Re: Fuel consumption.

Hmmm, just re-read my post and can't see any reference to racing, challenges, testosterone fuelled boasting about how my bike is faster than yours, or, I can get my knee down around any bend etc etc, guess I must have missed something, or did you just fill in some gaps that weren't there perhaps? I'...

Re: Fuel consumption.

I don't think that the extra cupful or half litre, -whatever it is-, from that bar to brimming is going to make much difference when 15 plus litres only got me 71 miles. The problem is that I was ragging it for pretty much each of those 71 miles I reckon.

Fuel consumption.

New tyres fitted yesterday, Roadsmart 2's, so went for a blast this morning to scrub them in and appraise. Ok, so I wasn't hanging around, out to lands end and round and about, but I got 71 miles from the tank filler bar to the red light!!!! 🙀🙀🙀 Shan't be doing that too often. Tyres are great, but w...

Cheap tyres

Recently I saw a post,( possibly from Wicky,) about cheap tyres from Bikespeed.uk. I ordered a pair of Dunlop Roadsmart 2's which arrived today' £119 for the pair delivered. Can't argue with that! Thanks very much whoever it was, bike speed are now in my favourites!

Re: Exhaust

Thanks Wicky.
Now another thing. I entered Delkelvic exhaust into the search box for the workshop and nothing came up. I'm obviously doing something wrong because it's not the first time that my search blanks on a subject that there's plenty of comments about. Any pointers on that please?
