Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

tried new baffles configuration along with new carb setup. It is now louder over viper baffles, but still reasonable. This is 3rd incarnation, 1st was pipe itself, 2nd with metal strip added, now 3rd with beer caps. I can change it to something more serious, but it seems to be working as intended :)...

Re: Bigger Bore Etc

This is from webcam? Maybe they did the grind vtr specific and my worries about timing were unnecessary.

Re: Bigger Bore Etc

Oh for sure, without a lot of tuning it will not run right. The biggest thing is having both cylinders draw in at once starves the airbox. Ditch the box when twingled and get the jetting sorted. It'll fly after that. Totally different animal. AV Big bang configuration, nice. Is it revving freely to...

Re: Bigger Bore Etc

I think it is the same cam spec as I linked above, I just wrote duration at 0,050. There was no offense in my post, I have full respect to what you´ve done, I am not native speaker and I want to express correctly at first, maybe it sounds more rude than intended. My main concern was about valve timi...

Re: Bigger Bore Etc

I found this spec for grind 1490: http://webcamshafts.com/pages_vehicles/motorcycle/suzuki_install_data/tc_000592_055793.html Not sure if I understand right, but if you didnt check or adjust timing of the cams, it is quite a lottery ride it like this, and blown piston can be part of that. Grind from...

Re: Bigger Bore Etc

Thats a lot of effort and some serious stuff you handled with, and lot of wisdom gained :) I would worry about your blown rear piston at first, because if you don´t know what it caused, it can repeat. The cam grind is this one with 249 deg duration and 0,414 (10,52 mm) for all 4 cams, or there is di...

Re: Engine rebuild - cylinder re-sleeve

Not awared of any, most of the folks used std bore without machining the new one. I chose the same 98.5 like you just in case I would need the new 99mm in the future, which seems to be your case now.

Re: Engine rebuild - cylinder re-sleeve

Just to clarify, Were you able to determine if the 1mm OS pistons would work on the stock sleeves? I know Honda only offers .25 or .50mm, but I have always wondered if on my next build I could go 1mm. Thanks for any input AV 99 mm bore is maximum to go for sufficient cooling, according to Roger.

Re: vtr diet

It wasn´t really easy despite the same bearings are used, but not too complicated either. Main part was custom made brake discs, but this is problem for oem forks, guys with radials are fine :) This is what I wrote here, unfortunately pictures are gone and I don´t have any on work computer ... 1st c...

Re: vtr diet

thanks. the wheels seem very heavy. i read somewhere that the 954 blade set up is a lot lighter than stock. dont know if this is true not as heavy as one would think. Weight save with Triumph 675 wheels which are supposed to be very light is 2,24 kg / 5,18 lb on both. oem wheel weight for complete ...

Re: vtr diet

Lithium battery, aftermarket cans, new wheels (but honda six spokes make cosmetic difference), lightened flywheel, 520 chain and alu sprocket. This could be 10-15 kg weight saving.

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Ah well, I can't keep them both. Why not? The value of the SP2 in the bank will return you (I predict) a lot less than the increase in value of the SP2. Just tuck it away some place . Not sure about it, these times are over. I would be surprised to see significant value gain of sp2 in upcoming year...

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today

Went out on the Tuono yesterday, took a wiggly route down to Dover, along the coast a bit then headed back up the M2 as far as Maidstone, then more wiggly back roads to home. I much prefer February weather to January's.... But then today I had to clean it..... Took all afternoon. And Aprilia's go f...
