Re: Hello my v twin lovers!!!

Entirely up to you, that one. Some of us like messing around with engines, bolt-ons, go-faster bits, tuning etc, and some just want to ride 'em. If all you want is quicker, then have a look in a couple of mags and choose the flavour of the month, but be prepared to keep chasing the dream when the la...

Re: DEDICATED VTR OWNER

...Still has standard exhausts with a couple of 10mm holes in the ends , tried loud cans but it didnt sound right to me with the sweet engine and loud exhausts, where as a ducati has that clattering engine it seems to suit a loud can, just my opinion as I know loads of vtr owners love the loud cans...

Re: Little mod for Optimate

As an alternative I use a marine cigarette lighter socket with waterproof cover and fitted a cig plug on the charger cable.
Doubles as a power output for Satnav, mobile charger or camera power point.
Don't forget an in-line fuse.

Re: Sidestand

It's not the sort of part that gets listed every time a breaker strips one, so why not try calling up some breakers on the offchance?

Re: carbs spitting back

They all do it, stop worrying.
Upping tickover helps. ignition advancer also helps but makes it run a bit hotter.

Re: Still not running right

Any of the things I listed could have happened suddenly, and might have just happened (coincidentally) just after you fitted the new filter, but this is quite unlikely. So the chances are that you disturbed something when you played with it, over-oiled the filter, knocked the carbs or otherwise adju...

Re: Another strange noise!

Front CCT.

Check by taking off tank and end cap of front CCT, then put a tiny flat blade screwdriver down the end and see if you can feel any spring tension.

Urgent, as if it jumps teeth it will bend valves and cost you money.

Re: Still not running right

Disconnect the choke and try a different pair of carbs.
You can always sell them afterwards to get your money back.

Re: Front Sprocket Bolt!

You can jam the teeth on the sprocket against the swing arm casting with a combination spanner, about 13mm I think.
That stops it turning and you can then undo it with a 1/2" socket.

God, I'm a bodger, some days.......

Jet wear doesn't happen quickly, and so you don't notice it happening.
So have you changed anything else, serviced it, plugs, filters, anything?
