Re: Oil Leak

Okay, I've managed to locate some loctite 290 green from the UK, which hopefully is winging it's way over to Spain as I speak! I'm going to try loosening the lock nut first - clean the thread and fingers crossed the 290 green [thanks for the info E.Marquez] will do the trick! Failing that - it will ...

Oil Leak

I noticed smoke burning off my lower exhaust when I first stated it up, a closer look, shows an oil leak which seems to be coming from my rear cam chain tensioner [manual] it seems to be coming from the clamp down nut on the threaded part - everything is tight - what's going on?

Re: Rectifier - burn out!

According to Electrex the R/R they have listed [RR58 for £78] is MOSFET

It looks very much like the two I've already blown!

Re: Rectifier - burn out!

Funnily enough I wrote to 'Electrex' last night, still waiting for their reply. The direct [finned] replacement is £78 - I don't mind paying that if it lasts but I'm lacking confidence in this unit if I'm honest, I know the two I've burnt out were both secondhand but i still expected them to last mo...

Re: Rectifier - burn out!

Thanks cybercarl, I have to factor in the costs, I'm running four bikes on the road at the moment and I'm not a rich man by any stretch of the imagination! So I'm looking to get it sorted at a reasonable price. I have yet another second hand CBR125 R/R winging it's way to Spain, to get the bike back...

Re: Rectifier - burn out!

Thanks for all the info As far as I can tell my battery is still okay and able to take a charge and all connections seem pretty good. The bike appears to have spent it's whole life in a garage, as there's no sign of corrosion or weathered or loose connections etc The article about the MOFSET R/R's w...

Re: Rectifier - burn out!

I just found the post, I mentioned above, it wasn't an XJR 1300 R/R but an Yamaha R1 or R6 R/R used

Rectifier - burn out!

I have gone through 3 rectifiers in 2 years. The first one was no great surprise -being the original finless unit but the following two were CBR 125 finned rectifiers So a couple of questions - what are the possible reasons for rectifiers to burn out after 7 or 8 months? And I'm sure I read on here?...

Re: Powder Coat colours are doing my head in...

Go for black.

I'm a firm believer that two colours only, look good on a bike...three colours maybe...but that's pushing it...once you get 3+ colours - the bike looks shite

I would only ever have black wheels. Unless they are spoked

Re: Exhaust Hangers & Straps?

I got the SP1 on ebay

I can add photos when it arrives if you are interested? [If you were following ebay - it was the white one in SP2 colours]

I still have my Storm, in fact I'm riding to Portugal on it tomorrow

My Storm is still my special bike! I don't think much will change that

Re: Exhaust Hangers & Straps?

Yes, it would move the pipes to high level and parallel to and just below the seat/rear fairing. You are probably right, I should just wait out the ten days, then when it arrives try the link pipes first, see if I like the position and then take it from there. Patience is a virtue - right, it's just...
