As far as i know, the newer R/R's which include the built in heat sink are safe.
This mod is for those that do not have the newer unit and to save money. ;)

Pretty straight forward job mate.
Just make sure the bike is well secured and not going to go anywhere when you remove that front end.

Has some nice stiching with cable ties on both lowers and i wash it once every 3 months if i get around to it!
