motorway variable speed signs

Post by Kev L »

There's an interesting article on the BBC news site about the CPS advising Warwickshire constab that the variable speed limit signs are the incorrect size and font to prosecute motorists. They have therefore discontinued current prosecutions and reckon the last 6 yrs worth may be unlawful! Been done for speed on the strength of a variable speed sign? Might be worth an enquiry.

I've just been watching that. It does make one wonder how many other technical loopholes throughout the UK there are with mistakes like that.

I watched a programme once where this guy new all the ins and out of the paring laws, rules and reg's. He purposely went out his way to park illegally and get a ticket. He would then take the council to court and get off on a technicality like the painted Yellow line was not clear and worn apart or the distance between a and b was wrong or something.

What we need is a book that tell us all the in's and out's of the regulations for these road signs and marking's. Not a highway code but more of a technical guide.
