Well that was an expensive day.... 8O

We arrived early and I had the road wheels fitted, just in case there was rain. It was lovely and sunny, so I started to swap the wheels over.
The first bolt on the RHS front caliper just got eaten away by the allen key, meaning I couldn't get it off, also meaning I couldn't get the front wheel off. Ended up doing the first session on the Supercorsa rear and PR3 front.
After first session, I managed to drop the front wheel by removing the disc bolts and swap the wheel that way, so that was good.
The SC tyres with the tyre warmers were a revelation. So much less wasted time, straight out and on it from the go.
My bro videoed it and when watching back timed it at about 2:19 a lap which is OK, it's about mid inter group pace, though the guys in the novice group were REALLY slow and holding us up way too much. Fast group were getting about 2:10 ish.

Later on I noticed my brakes squeaking, and found the bloody Brembo pads were almost down to the metal. They have worn out so quickly. I put them in and did Oulton once, Mallory once, Snetterton once and Storm Wales. That's it. Probably less than 1000 miles and they're bloody £80 a set!!

But that wasn't all. My barsutard clutch started to slip in second to last session, and I noticed the brake discs on my road wheels are slightly warped giving a judder.

On the way back, I heard my car brakes grinding, so they're in need of new pads, along with the bloody DPF light in Sarah's Mazda 6 coming on.

All in all, an expensive day:
Discs £260
Pads £80
Clutch £65
Workshop to replace shredded bolt probably £50
Car brakes £50
DPF - between £1,000 and £1,100 if it needs a new one

Anyway on the plus side, Snetterton is awesome. Such a fast track.
The SC tyres were amazing and after my first time out with tyre warmers, I won't do another day without them now.

Yeah defo. I wanted to do inters this time, but it was my brother's first outing on the 1000 and he wanted to stick to novice group 1 last time.

IMO it can be quite dangerous in the novice group, some of the guys are going so slow and sway about all over the track, changing their lines through the corners.

Al, do you think it's worth trying to organise another "Op Storm xxxxx track day" later on this year, like Mallory last year?

Sounds like a good idea to me. I'll start a thread a bit nearer the time if nobody else does.

Let me know if you are doing any circuits next month. I'll be off these wombles crutches then!

Yeah next up Steve is Oulton, then Silverstone and then either Donington or Cadwell. Hope you can make it.

Yeah I liked that angle he was getting on those. Most of the pro photos are either front or back facing, this one's a bit different.
