Devon Meet Friday 17th July - South East ride west

Post by bazza696 »

It’s not far away till this, so here goes:

Meet at Clacket lane services (TN16 2ER) at 10am to leave 10.15-30 this will be for Tony, Mac and AP unless there is somewhere better to meet.

Meet gl-s-r at Reading services(RG30 3UQ)J11/12 around 11.30 to 12ish

We will need to stop for fuel on the M4, but on the Yorkshire run Ady and Stu said they may come down through Wales, so we could meet up with them on the M5 J19 Gordano services (BS20 7XG) at say 1pm, leave at 1.30pm or later after tea and cakes.

We should arrive at the park at around 3.30pm.

If there are an other suggestions

summary
Clacket lane to Reading services 70 miles - 1¼hrs
Reading services to Gordano 87 miles - 1½hrs
Gordano to camp site 100miles - 2hrs

Sounds good to me...

But this time on the way home can you program your sat nav properly so that it doesn't take us on a 200 mile detour please...

sounds good to me, and that Gordano services has the most comfy chairs outside the coffee shop, just ask Jamie....
oh and don't follow CK and his tw@ nav, over an hour of country lanes that were covered in all sorts of farm crap, crossing streams and none of the roads were wider than a bus, all because he put twisty roads in his tw@ nav, it was funny tho, I almost lobbed my bike getting out of/thru the stream, it shite chris up so much, he had to get off and push his bike thru, only to realise he wasn't strong enough, so I had to walk into the water to help push his bike, if a local farmer had been watching us, he would have pissed himself laughing.
see you in july gents.....
HEY YOU GUYS!!!!!!

Yep, engine rebuild permitting I'll be there.

Clackett's... named after VTR cct's.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

A303 is more interesting than a boring motorway, but if meeting people at Gordano it works better.

Tony how long does it take to put an engine together, you've got over 6 weeks

If you have seen him work, spanner up, spanner down, drink beer, it's one of those never ending cycles.

Can you let me know what services you aim to fill up on the M4 and I'll meet you there and then follow along if okay.. presume would you be aiming for Reading services?
Why ask... sometime you just go to do it and find out?

I will have a look on the route an give you an idea.

had a look at distances, and Reading services on the M$(RG30 3UQ) looks good for distance, about 70 miles from Clacket lane.

What time do you think you will be at Gordano? Or more importantly what time will you be leaving the services to head south?
Gordano is just down the road from me and should also be pretty handy for anyone coming down from up north.

we would be looking at around 1-1.30, but you can appreciate that we would have travelled a fair few miles before getting to the M4, so you would have to factor in we could be earlier(if I was Tony and I) or later (now we have Mac and AP) :)
