Yes, it does have to be full MOT, but no, they don't check the MOT, you don't have to take it with you.

I think they will just be on the look out for 'obvious' track bikes.

I think the main thing will be the 'NO TYRE WARMER' rule, because no one with a proper track bike and decent tyres will want to run a day without tyre warmers.

Having no lights and an mot is a full mot, there's no such thing as a "daytime mot" although it means the same, it's an mot with an advisory that states "no lights fitted at time of test" Of course if you got caught riding without lights when you need them they'll throw the book at you. But for a track day surely it's ok, got to be worth a phone call to ask..
