GrainStorm IV

Post by MacV2 »

So whose up for Part Four of the Award winning GrainStorm Franchise ?

Last years GrainStorm III was very well attended & was a nice sunny day...

This year May seems quite a busy month in Storm world with Donnington Endurance 6/7 May & Operation York Dales on the 18-21 May.

Plus there is a Bank Hol at each end of the month so families may be away...

So I've put some dates in a Poll...Personaly I don't mind when it is...I don't have to travel anywhere...

As always the dates all fall on a Saturday just in case urgent need for spares...

I'm thinking April is more chance of rain...However here are the dates with some notes as well...

April 22nd...Half term maybe as it's the weekend after Easter 14 & 17 being Bank Hols...

April 29th...Monday the 1st of May is a bank hol...At the end of that week 5-6-7th May is the Donington Endurance weekend...

May 13th...Fall inbetween Donington & the Op.York weekend...

May 27th...Week after Op.York & 29th is a Bank Hol... + It's TT fortnight starting 27thMay till 9th June...

June 3rd... TT is still on...

June 10th...TT finished 9th June...

July 1st...Two weeks after DevonStorm...

Now I will leve the poll up for 10 weeks...so end of March...

As is always the way with these things someone somewhere wont be happy as the date finaly chosen will not be any good for them...

My veiw on dates is...Prob April 22 is best re other Storm related events but...More chance of rain ? & maybe too close to Easter & non Storm related but family commitments...

Any May date is pushing it as it's a busy month...

June 3rd & 9th is still in TT week...Was thinking 17th but thats out as hopefully I'll be in Devon...Storming...

July 1st two weeks after DevonStorm. Bit late in year but weather should be good...

Of course if any one wants to propose another date earlier than April 22nd my ears are open...

When a date is sort of agreed* I'll start an offical GrainStorm IV thread...

* someones bound to be pissed off...

I'd love to attend this year just for the get together and perhaps the learning (about how middle/old aged life affects ones ability to ride the storm )

No, really it sounds like it is a good day. Unfortunately I work most weekends and if not I'm coming off a night shift but I'll try and get leave for the selected day. For now I've picked 22nd April after reading mac's post.
If you don't try you never know if you can do it.

I don't mind which date is selected.I'll go with the flow if i'm available.I voted for the weekend after Donnington, but on reflection 22nd April suits me better. So can i change my vote.

I dunno if you can physically change it but I'll bear it in mind at the end of the poll...

Remember chaps this is just a poll to gauge an idea...Not the offical date as yet...

I'm all for group consensus on this the more the merrier but as said someone will always be disapointed with the outcome, just look at Brexit...

Also you have to remember I'm the Dictator around here so what I say goes...Thats final...End of...

I've made a mark in my diary for November 2025.

By that time, I may have been able to save up enough for road tax, Insurance, MOT, Tyres, CCTs and enough fuel to get me to there and back again.

And that's straight down and straight back up, keeping as close to the 1,220 miles as I can (I wouldn't be going for a ride out with the rest as that's more fuel and equals more money :( ).

I wanna do at least one decent run again before I depart this mortal coil. I may be looking at an 18hr ride to get there, as I have to legally stop every 2 hours to do blood testing and eating/power nap break etc.

Who knows? Never say never n' all that. Watch this space. Well, not this space, as it'll be waaaay down the board by 2025.
If it ain't broken...f*ck about with it until it is.

TAX: 1st March 2017
MOT: 16th March 2017
INS: 14th March 2017

I'd like to revisit, and there's sure a lot to do to the black beauty. Great opportunity to benefit from the collective wisdom and realise the extent of my singular ignorance. Then again, it may not be running and i might have moved. I'll see if i can fit in with whatever
