Wales Meet Friday 14th Sept - for Southern Softies

Post by bazza696 »

Wales trip is getting close guys so I thought I would fire up a thread to sort out meeting arrangements for us guys from the South East.

This year it is slightly different, it looks like I have Wicky from my end of the world, so i'm going anticlockwise round the M25 this year and cut 50 miles off my trip.

So Wicky if we meet at Brentwood services(CM14 5NA) at 9.30 leave at 10am.

Meet Tony and/or Mac at Reading services(RG30 3UQ) around 11.30am for more fuel, leave at 12

Tony and Mac can meet at Clacket lanes services(TN16 2ER) at around 10-10.30am*. Refuel and chat and leave around 10.45. They will arrive at Reading around the same time.

With the Reading stop, we should be on for a ride straight to Aust.

Get to Aust services(BS35 4BH) around 1 - 1.30pm to meet up with anyone that wants to come and ride in with us.

it will be nearly 2hrs to the bunkhouse around 80 miles.

Wicky if you want we can divert and meet Tony at Clacket Lane, if so let me know and I will revise the meeting times for us at Brentwood.

At time of typing it's just under 4 weeks to go time...It's really 50/50 if i will be able physically to make this ...again FFS...I'm really hoping to but it all depends on if my arm can take it...

I sat on Red633 yesterday & started it up just to keep the fluids going, I know it's not the same as riding but after just a few mins the stretching to the bars was not nice... It's not like i can rest it whilst moving either being as it's me right arm...the go & stop side of things...

I am really hoping to be bike fit to make it but TBH at the mo, realistically it's not looking good...

It's a shame as you'll have no one to take the piss out of for riding slow...

Yes I am doing physio but basicaly the muscles in me upper arm were cut through to plate the bone, so it's a case of getting them working as they should...At the moment any movement out of the range results in an intense cramp like pain in the bicep...it fecking hurts... 8O

If I not back on the bike in 3 weeks time then I'll prob have to bail...If things work out better & I can ride I'll try to be there if I have to bail out part way then so be it...

I’m planning at meeting up at Aust services along with Little Bro and maybe big Bro too.
It’d be good to see you if you can make it

Or I could take the 2 in the bus with you along and you could scrounge a pillion.
The 2 has no pillion option....no pegs or seat....
Let's see nearer the time how much hanging on potential you have.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Or you could put a sidecar on the 2

Good luck Mac with being well enough to go on your own bike,

Chris.

Cheers Bazza for crunching out a route & timetable - I was looking at routes to Wales via Brum or via Oxford

Presumably the timing is to avoid as much as possible the worse of the rush hour around the M25.

May be can all carry Mac if we disassemble him so we can fit bits into our tank bags...
