Spanish trip 2023

Post by agentpineapple »

after meeting Mr Mon recently, he mentioned if i would be interested in putting together another trip to Spain.
guests would be using the accommodation at my olive farm in Catalunya Spain.
6 places will be avaliable, as i've entertained bigger groups, but it becomes a lot tougher with larger numbers.
accommodation will be based on 2 people sharing a room.
we are looking at around late September to early October of 2022. this will give you plenty of time to save and plan the trip, and to nag your other half into allowing you to go....
plus the weather should be better as in not too hot.
there are lots of details still to sort out. i.e length pf stay, how you intend to get there and back.....ferry or ride.
but this post is to gain interest,
to see if we can get a good number of members interested.
let me know if your interested and feel free to ask any questions.

Best put my name down for this one, then!
Not sure yet but will probably come out in the van with the bike in the back.
I'll be sharing a room with the wife, hopefully. She only snores quietly. Well, compared to me she does!
She won't be on the rideout's, though.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

as I will be retired after April, I would be interested in a trip into Spain.

so put me down as well, but it will be KTM rather than Storm power.

If it gets oversubscribed, we'd happily bring a tent if there's room.
You thinking about coming out in the van and bringing Paula, Al?

I haven't asked her yet, but that is an option. if I did that it would be the storm, as the KTM is too big to get in the van without taking mirrors & screen off

Hi gents
tents are welcome, we have plenty of land, tbh we can provide accommodation for more but i don't really want a huge number of riders, as it becomes very difficult for one person (me) to safely heard you lot around lol.
if i can find a biker friend in Spain who would be willing to help out then we can increase the number of bikes/riders.

so far there's interest from the following.

Mr Mon
Flatty
Al
Cheeky

there are also a few FB friends showing interest, but as we know showing interest is one thing, actually going is another.
we have lots of room for parking vans and trailers if needs be.
previous groups have either used the ferry to Bilbao and then ridden or been trailered to my farm.
when i return to Spain towards the end of this month i will talk to my family about the amount of accommodation we can offer and the cost.

thanks Marty, I am looking forwards to seeing how kev copes with not organizing everything

There are 3 ferry routes operating between England and Spain offering you combined total of 6 sailings per week. Brittany Ferries operates 3 routes, Plymouth to Santander runs 1 time per week, Portsmouth to Bilbao about 3 times weekly & Portsmouth to Santander about 2 times weekly.

would be great to have some local knowledge for the best (most fun roads() from the ferry to chez Marty. I would love to take the chance to go into the Pyrenees and Andora on the way down / up and do a few nice mountain passes

They're fun, I went that route in pouring rain when I went to the Valencia Moto GP a few years back on my Storm. We rode from Dover.

It snowed on the way back through Andorra though!

That was end of Oct/ first few days of Nov, so well probably get away with it in September.

Hopefully.

@agentpineapple

Marty, are you any closer to setting some dates so we can start booking ferries?

How about the platinum jubilee week dates? As the Thursday and Friday first week of June are bank holidays, you'd only have to burn three working days to get the week off- for those of us still working, that is.

I spotted an article in an old RIDE magazine (that I stole off Tony.mon) on the N260, they claimed it as one of the best biking roads in Spain, so that looks like that is a great way to get from the ferry to the coast.

depending on when the ferry gets into Spain, stop the night in pamplona then spend the next day riding the N260
