Pulled the SP2 to bits, shock out ready for a rebuild at HM Racing, don't bikes look sad when they're half torn apart?
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

SWMBO is having her kitchen rebuilt so I'm having her for dinner on a regular basis. I've had to move the Storm out of the lounge and put up new curtains! FFS!!!

Damper back on 996

Had a bit of a staring match with my storm last night...Just seemed wrong somehow to borrow a damper when its never really misbehaved. I could sorta justify a damper to compliment the bark busters but wonder how effective it would be in a collision. I guess the damper would lock the steering to the limit of the assembly. But it means the damper being a permanent thing.

So I dwelled on it for a bit longer... chained it to the rafters, pulled the top triple to find the steering head lock nut loose.
Stripped, cleaned, greased, made a hideous tube socket and torqued and tried.

The high speed shimmy and little lane wander has been replaced by a stable line and burning desire

I know! I think I've read the same advice on every VTR forum.

Feeling relieved but dumb :shh:
