Post by warby221 »

Well managed to get out and about today
First decent day were I didn’t have anything planed for me to do
Just had a short ride down the A59 to Skipton back up the A65 to Long Preston then across to Gisburn on the A682 then back home on the A59 again
Was good to get out and about on the storm again pity the roads were a bit greasy
The pic’s were taken on the A59 looking towards whalley with the viaduct as a backdrop

cba today after a bad kebab last night, but got out for 50 odd mile yesterday - nice ride out round delamere and pickmere, roads nice & quiet, no plod about ;)
only thing that shook me was mud on the roads but tbh i shouldve expected it near the farms

Got out myself yesterday for the first run of the year. A bit chilly but not too bad. Bit more worrying was getting the back spinning up at over 70. Sphincter was twitching like a rabbits nose.

Contemplated it myself...

Just looked too greasy in places for me-that coupled with sub zero temps

Shame as it was nice and sunny on the whole. Don't think the Mrs would have approved though...she had other plans!

Turned out OK though-just got back from the Japanese after an all you can eat gorge :D Yum, yum

Had exactly the same thoughts Tim...

It's killing me not being able to get out at the minute-if I had a shitter for winter I'd probably be more inclined.

But the roads are just bad, and I mean BAD in places...if the road salt and piles of grit/agregate on junctions were'nt bad enough-the pot holes are beyond stupid. This is down to years and years of councils (certainly ours) poorly maintaining road surfaces. One stint of very cold weather and everythings fooked   :x

I've got a strong feeling most won't be sorted for the summer-overt "traffic calming/speed reduction" for some councils I reckon...no Derbyshire did it for sometime on the Snake.

As everyone that rides a bike knows-someone WILL have a serious accident sooner or later through no fault of there own I reckon...

Good pics Warby !

Same with yours Richie , Arran looks good with the sprinkling of snow on the mountains,i got married over there !
57 miles or so right round the island ,very popular with bikers, but its one of the more expensive ferry journeys in this area . I can see it from my house in a clear day,and have been up the highest mountain around 5 times.......in my younger/fitter days :(

Its not really a port mate, just a slipway in the holiday town of Largs, for the ferry to the Island of Cumbrae ,with the main town on the island being Millport .
Nice on a summers day going over for beer/lunch ,only 10 miles or so in circumference .

I was out yesterday. The roads were as greasy as I have ever seen....wasnt too bad where there was a dryline, but every where else was awful(rear wheel spinning up at 75Mph 8O when the revs hit 7Krpm).

That and having to spend an hour cleaning a ton of salt of it afterwards. Meh

Went to kick the tyres on the VFR1200 launch locally, but took the car.

Getting r e a l l y bored with the weather now.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

yeh noticed that last saturday, absolutely shocking.
even the top road.
saw some r1 riders jumping over the humps but with new tyres on didnt risk pushing it myself.

same as you said, few times in low speed corners i had to stand the bike back up when i saw craters in the road.
one near the cattlegrid was so bad i got off and checked my front rim, was sure it wouldve broke the bead on the trye, didnt half go with a bang.

Warby,
I like the way the white belly pan works with the number boards.......was thinking of doing simlar with black on mine some time ago, may restart that project having seen yours.
did you do the front section with a sticker kit, or respray the middle pannel?

Also impressed with other subtle little mods like the rear foot peg hangers

As for getting my bike out, best I managed was a 20 mile round trip through town on the little Kawasaki............even then I wished I had worn thicker gloves, and I took it gentle on any corners where the road was still looking damp
