Latest breaking bones news...

Post by MacV2 »

Went for an appointment at the hospital fracture clinic today.

Old dressings taken off...

Right wrist...

Image

I now know why me elbow has been giving me the odd sharp pain... bloody staples not stitches.

Image

Had some more X-rays & went in to see the consultant.
He is not happy with the position of the wrist & was surprised it was only in a brace, so after a chat with another consultant he comes back in to tell me that he is referring me to another surgeon in Kings Collage Hosp re a possible 2nd op... They will talk by phone & fax over a letter & zap the x-rays over. They will call me with the decision. Meanwhile I now sport a cast on my right arm... It's red though so I should be able to Jodrell Bank quicker !

Pre fix X-ray.

Two views of me new Ti bionic wrist...I reckon that makes me the £60.50 £ not $ Man...

Ouch! What a world of hurt! :eek2

Dare you to say to the surgeon "measure twice cut once"

To try and make you feel comparatively better...

It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

I love a bit of blood and guts. When I had a big whole in the side of my ankle I would study all the insides and look at the bone. Blood, guts I love it. Give puke, sh1t or smelly rotten septic wounds and I feel sick. I'm one of those people who quite happily watches operating programmes on tele or that guy who filled the plasticiser stuff inside the dead human body and cut it in half for scientific research. Give me more.

So what's happened to the wrist then Mac. Have you been using it too soon.

One day Mac you can look back and laugh about it and proudly show your scars.

Going to take a few months though....

I take it your looking to get back in the saddle? If your 'Storm doesn't make it what next? Another one or something different?

sorry to hear about the possibilty of a second op, but if it means a better end result its got to be worth it. when i had a full leg cast they said only children ask for coloured plaster....
both wounds look like they're healing well. just take it easy buddy, ask your home help if she can help you with you backed up pipes....

Hopefully they heal ok and do not scare to badly. When all staples and stitches are out remember to give those areas a hard massarge every day to break down the scare tissue so you get less grief from it later on. Hope they sort you out quickly.

Apparently mine was in about 5 bits hence the internal fixation, hopeful it will heal without too much long term grief.

had the op last Wed's & they just bandaged it up with no support, the day I was discharged they cut off the bandages & gave me a velcro brace thing which has a steel plate in it. Obviously it either wasn't done right or set right or indeed moved in the last week.

Just for you Carl...

Even though the idea of a 2nd op might not appeal, it will be better in the long run... It's your fiddler, drinking and throttle hand, you need to make sure it works
