Goodbye single Seat Bike.

Post by bigtwinthing »

Well my wife has hit me with a bombshell. After a few years off the bikes, she has now asked to go back pillion. At present i don't want to sell the CB or change it, but as we are aware the bike is my fun factor etc. So i need to get a IL4 thats fun for me and can carry a pillion with a back box on it too. I still want something that gives me a buzz on my own too.

So my thinking is the following.

Blackbird.
Fazer FZ1
VFR1200
Triumph ST ? not sure I've had a Triumph and wasnt impressed with oil consumption.
CB1300 are they too lardy?

Any suggestions 6K max etc.

What about a zzr 14?

In terms of comfort for both rider and passenger you could be looking at Busa, zzr14, 1100xx possibly even CBF1000?
If it aint broke, get your bloody hands off it!

You might be better asking your wife what bike she would prefer sitting on and what your going to be using it for, then come to some middle ground agreement. This is what my wife and I used to discuss before she stopped riding and getting on the back of my bike.

We don't have the luxury of space here in Blighty, most households only have provision for 1 car.

However, I'd definitely try and get a cheap bike to see if the missus actually wanted to keep going pillion. Based on how much you love your CB.

I'm glad I don't have a missus, pillions really wreck the fun factor for me!

FZ1, Fazer Not the naked one  (Fazer has a bigger pillion seat) Infact I keep looking at them lately and viewed one last week, I have hardly ridden my firestorm since last July (or any bike) it might be me or it might be the bike (nothing at all wrong with it), My thinking was find a cheapish FZ1 Fazer that I could get my money back on, ride it a bit and if it turns out to be just me that's not very interested in riding then sell it on, if it relights the fire then i'll keep it and think about moving the storm on.

The big bruisers aren't much fun in the twisties, The CB1300 is great for what it is and handles well for a big naked bike but it's nothing like the CB you have now and is a heavy old bike..

Fazer all the way
