So, what do I keep?

I picked up a job lot of micrometers today but I don't need them all. Seemed like too good a deal to pass up.

All Mitutoyo:
External metric 25-50mm, 50-75mm and 75-100
External metric 0-150mm interchangeable
External imperial 0-1", 1-2", 2-3", 3-4", 4-5"
Internal imperial 2-12"
Imperial slip gauges, B grade.

For my needs I think the interchangeable metric set is best but any thoughts from the engineers on here are welcome.

Why keep the internal set and slips?

25 to 50 external could find a home here nick if your selling :D

Only if you don't have a set of the slips. Rarely used but very nice if you need them.

Nothing KermitLeFrog. Only a set of very-nears. No lathe etc.

It's highly unlikely I'll be messing around with old British bikes so I'm a bit unsure about the imperial stuff. I think a bore gauge would be better but I'm not sure whether the internals would be OK instead.

I want to learn more about fabrication though so I don't want to move something one an later regret it.

The imperial stuff is good. It just requires a bit of simple maths. I've got an imperial mic but haven't actually measured "inches" for years.

Imperial is good when you have imperial scales on your machine tools.

Slip gauges are great for reference and calibration, but digital readouts have sorta made them old school even for this old fool.

I regret everything I have ever sold...except the '85 Hailwood I sold to get rid of an ex-wife... That was a bargain!
