Winter is coming

Post by Nosepicker »

Well it's getting to cold and wet outdoors for this MAMIL so the roadbike is fitted in the home trainer this afternoon

Will keep the Storm ready for the occasional ride out a little bit longer though

i really miss my mountain bike. my knees just couldnt cope with downhill anymore, or with pedalling, for that matter. we have a really great few blues and blacks in west wales. well worth a visit. my main ones were brechfa and cilycwm. try saying that after a few lagers..

Stop being Saft,
Get out and enjoy the grit in your eye.
Gentle 20 miles out to the seaside this evening for coffee.
These covid masks are great stopping the icicles forming on your nose.
Don't hassle me
I'll get there at some time

Still do a bit of road and mtb

But the winter really is where the mtb makes so much more fun
Where the thought of crud on the road bike fills you with dred.
With the mtb you actually go looking for the stuff 👍👍

Well today the Storm was put into winter hibernation as well :(
I've started a thorough cleaning and will do a service with valve clearance check, carb balancing and all fluids and filters. Also the front brake pads and both tires are due for a change.
I'm gonna get rid the PAIR-valve system in the process and fit a set of bar risers. And the fairing stay could do with a dab of fresh paint.
And otherwise just annoy my surroundings - as usual

Got some of the engine related stuff done today.
Valve clearances and cam chain slack ok. Spark plugs and coolant changed.

A local machinist made me some covers so I can get rid of the PAIR system. Thanks Mikkel

And the bar risers have arrived. Now where is that pipe :shh: :D

Is the PAIR system fitted only to some vtrs or maybe not to UK vtrs? I went to fit similar blank plates but it seems that my bike was spared it.

Yes, only for some markets and later years. It's only fitted when local environmental regs require it.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
