Another lad from Dublin...

Post by holler »

Greetings everyone! Got myself a nice red VTR 1000 F with funny speedo, 0 - 180 km/h. Great nick, mileage 44k km. Bought it for fun. Thanks for having me on forum! ... And yeah, original cam chain tensioners are still on it!

Check out the NI meet up thread in Sunday runs thread.
There's a bunch of owners, ex owners and wannabees what meet up, drink to excess and embarrass themselves that head over to the forty shades area once a year.
Fancy showing your new acquisition off?

Well, that was quick. CCT failed, the engine is gone. Luckily there was a three months warranty so I have my money back and a hunt for a new machine is now on! I`m not sure if it's going to be a Firestorm though coz my faith in Honda has been shaken...
Thanks for a warm welcome anyway. All the best lads!

What😬. It can't be that bad, maybe a head and tensioners....plenty of good ones about, dont give up just do the mcct or stopper mod and you'll have no issues...

How many times have we heard this?
Would you mind sharing who you bought the bike from, as its an easy and quite cheap fix if you know what you're doing.

Sorry to hear of your experience, as said it's easy to make some changes which prevent this happening.

Yeah, the funny thing is that I have ordered manual cct for the bike... It was a private sale but, he gave me three months warranty saying that bike was sorted and tensioners were changed for genuine ones with only 5-6 k km on them. Apparently he was wrong. Man of his word anyway  , he even paid for manual cct that I have ordered.

Ok, so I have sourced out another one. Japanese import, very good nick 2002 roughly 25000 miles, but a bit pricey (2700 euro) Is it worth the money though? I don`t have a picture but the condition of the bike is really good,VERY similar to this one :

What do you think lads? Any help would be greatly appreciated. :Argue:

Mmm quite dear for one showing clear signs of being crashed and it still has auto CCTS. Saleman narrator spinning quite some bullshit blarney.

Also as it's an import from Japan it will likely be restricted to 100mph or so. So will need certain wires behind the clocks cut to remove limiter.

It may also dip in the wrong direction.
Lightweight chain and sprockets?
If he means a 520, it didn't look like it.
I tend to agree, you should be able to get a better one.
