New from owner Japan but a kiwi

Post by vipfto »

Thanks for the add guys

Hey guys, im a Kiwi but live in Japan and have just purchased a yellow 2002 eu model VTR1000F. Ill post up pics when I take delivery, things work slightly different here and can take up to three weeks after agreeing on purchase from dealer for vehicle to be ready.
I have owned cbr600s previously and was going to buy another but this will be a tourer and weather or season permits a daily ride and never owned a vtwin before only rode a few times and loved the torque and riding position seemed much more comfortable.

I have do have a question and that is where can I purchase manual CCT as I am unsure if its factory or if changed with Honda OEM during regular services, is there a way to tell paint marks or anything? Im a vehicle mechanic by trade, no issues replacing the part just where to buy.
Also seeing as this bike is stock apart from smoked screen, recommendations on mufflers? I have access to yahoo japan obviously and Japanese local markets.

Hi and welcome
It's all here, and if you hang on much more knowledgeable people than myself will be along to advise.
Just remember that any pictures must include your garbage bins, forum unwritten rule 🤣🤣👍
Top colour btw👍👍

Hi and welcome.

I wouldn't be too happy waiting 3 weeks. Customs are customs I guess. Don't get over-anxious!!

Used to it here these days it will probably only be a week two at most. It's a paperwork and new inspection thing. Even buying cars they have to check you have car parking space on paper and physically. The Japanese love the rules and regs
Sorry we don't have garbage bins though?

Greetings

You should be able to find Moriwaki cans locally for a good price :cool2

and for manual CCTs order in a set from Mark Krieger in the US

http://www.clems-garage.com/CCT/vtr1000 ... frstrm.htm

Also check for Japanese market 180 to 190km/h speed restrictor which can be bypasssed behind clocks.

Plus look at upgrading the R/R to a mosfet type (FH020A) for improved reliability.

It might still have carb intake restrictors depending on which EU country it came from.

Welcome aboard and glad to have you here. :D
I just got my '98 and have fallen in love with this bike and all that can be done with it.
I know your excitement on waiting for the bike as I too had mine delivered from what seemed like afar.
Enjoy the ride and this place is full of information I feel like a kid in a candy store when I'm here.

Finally pick it up today, still waiting on manual cct to arrive. Forgot how good it feels to ride been 5 years. My first vtwin plenty of low end torque. Love the feeling very agricultural
