Try bigger mains. If it only runs ok with the choke out it's too lean.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

It now idles. Dont drill your pilot jet out to 2.2mm

So to stop the slides moving up and down you blank a hole off in the slide ?

And to blank off one of the brass holes at the opening of the carb makes it richer on part throttle.

Interestingly pulling the choke out makes it stall.

182 mains . 60 pilots

A pilot jet has 3 small holes inside of it, so yeah drilling it out can cause issues....

Changing lift holes changes the speed (and also the amount) of the slide opening.
Fewer or smaller holes allow the slide to react slower but open a touch farther at wide open.
More or larger holes allow the slide to react quicker but open slightly less at wide open.

You can also adjust slide speed by spring selection.

Changing or plugging the air bleeds on the main jets is usually done when running without an airbox. The lack of smooth airflow can cause fuel mixture fluctuations. If you do plug the air bleeds you will also need to run a smaller main jet.

While called a "choke" it is actually an enrichment circuit. Instead of blocking air it adds fuel.

Thanks for the info.

So the air bleed to the main jet is the middle one . ?

Right us the pilot jet
Left is the choke circuit ?
