Streetfighter, cafe racer thingy!!!

Post by Vtrstu »

Let me start by apologising to the purists for my sins of chopping about one of your beloved VTR’s.
At the risk of being run out of town and thrown off the forum here’s a couple of pics of what i have had lurking in the back of my garage for a few years . I have decided to use it this summer and I’m having great fun with it.

Cheers, I bet it will divide opinions, a bit of a marmite bike !!!
It’s slowly making me def and I will end up making a chiropractor very wealthy but it’s good fun.

Looks good fella, it’s your bike, your rules. What did the front mounted radiator come off of?

What was your solution to moving from side mounts to the single radiator as that will be of interest to some folk.
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

I saw it up for sale on Ebay very recently, I thought then you had done a good job building it.

I know it's not to everyones liking, but I like it 8) 8)

Thanks for the positive reply’s.

The radiator was a find on eBay which had the right dimensions and a top mounting point. I had a larger curved rad on it previously from a ktm 990 V twin but it fouled the mud guard under heavy braking.! The hose on the left is ( I think 🤔) the original and the other I found in a scrap yard after looking at about 20 car engine bays until I found the right diameter and angle of bend. It seems to be cooling it ok which was a concern.

The bottom yolk and the rest of the front end is off a Ducati 996. I am intrigued to know the difference it made to the front end as I didn’t use the bike with the standard front end other than a spin round the block when I bought it. I have seen on some forums that they can be a little soft on the front end. This feels really nice and turns a bit quicker too as new front end drops the front about 5-10 mm if memory serves me right.

Just to clarify......The radiator isnt from any particular bike. Just a multi purpose aftermarket one.

Hello, I like that

Radiator wise, I spent about an hour last night searching & I think I found it :D

It looks as if it's an upgraded SV650 (K5 or later) item

Not sure what fan you've got though

Good bit of detective work to find that. Certainly looks like it. I’m pretty sure I bought it just as dimension and not for any particular bike!
