Erm, no...probably not a good idea that happening. That'll be why they're nae on the list! So, I guess I'll have to polish the life out of them, and coat 'em in either lacquer or ACF-50 (they're showing the rest of the front end up now!!)

MANY thanks for getting back to me so quick! A big Fumbs Up to you!

(thought I'd actually explain the Fumbs Up, as last place I wrote "a big FU to you", it didn't go down to well for some strange reason... Don't know why tho?)

Hi guys,

The previous owner of my Storm has fitted pink aluminium bolts which need to go. I was going to do each one individually, but to save time is this list still correct?

Stainless steel Allen cap heads
1xm6@80mm
3xm6@65mm
2xm6@60mm
8xm6@45mm
8xm6@40mm
4xm6@35mm
14xm6@30mm
1xm6@20mm
+ 45 m6 washers

Hello Jamie.

Here is the list for the sizes, and, below that, a break down of what size bolt goes where:

(Credit for the measurements and list goes to Lloydie)

To order a complete Stainless (DIN 912 A2/70) Allen cap bolt "kit", I highly recommend Iain Sim at Bolt Base.

(These are not "ready made" kits for the Firestorm, but the order will be made up for you).

Send him an email: sales@boltbase.co.uk and request the list below. He has a very quick turn-around and is a top bloke to deal with.

The bolts will arrive neatly in a jiffy bag, and in individual bags, with the sizes written on (M6, M8 etc).

Then, it's just a case of remove one bolt at a time, and replace with a new one. PLEASE NOTE: These bolts are NOT polished, and have a "satin" finish to them.

VTR1000 Firestorm Stainless Bolt List:

M4
Bolts:
14 x 15mm
Washers: 14
-------------------------------------------------
M5
Bolts:
6 x 15mm
2 x 25mm
Washers: 8
-------------------------------------------------
M6
Bolts:
1 x 20mm
4 x 25mm
22 x 30mm
4 x 35mm
8 x 40mm
8 x 45mm
1 x 50mm
2 x 60mm
3 x 65mm
1 x 80mm
Washers: 54
-------------------------------------------------
M8
Bolts

8 x 45mm
Washers: 12
-------------------------------------------------
M10
Bolts:

That's great, thanks for that. I've emailed him the list across now... I don't think I need all of them, but may as well just replace them all.

Thanks again!

Does anyone know the size of bolt required when upgrading the reg rec to a R1 one? I believe it's thicker, so the bolt needs to be longer.

Just wanted to thank GingerBeardMan for the advice and PM on the bolts required. Credit to Llyodie for the initial list too. Complete set ordered for just under £20.

Nah just use the one that came out plenty of length on it to do the job. You'll only get one hole lined up however & don't forget the earth wire. Use a dab of locktite on the bolt.

I hope you mentioned the forum name as your source. If enough of us mention the forum while purchasing they may end up giving us a forum discount. It would be nice to have small firms like this on the forum like Opie oils. Only if they offer us a forum discount mind and simply knocking the VAT off is not enough in my book.

A great idea for "company discount to club/forum members", but at the price, I don't think he could discount them any further. He'd be giving them away!

After Bolt Base sent Jamies order out, I received a nice email back from Iain Sim, the Director:

"Hi Dave. A guy called Jamie has contacted me with a list of m6, then came back with a larger list identical to yours, I am just waiting for him to confirm they are all cap screws.

I went back to him with the same price as sold to you.

Thanks again, and for passing me a new customer.

Best regards,

That's encouraging and you most likely right with the price. It's was simply an idea, thought that occurred. Now that's bloody dangerous, I must stop thinking or at least take the foil hat off.

The service was top class, and everything was all bagged separate. I'll be using him again for sure. Thanks for the recommendation.
