HISS problem

Post by Brinz »

Hi everyone. My 2005 VTR1000F has no spark.
Also the HISS light stays on all the time, even when the bike is being cranked over (is this normal) or should it go out after a few second once the key is turned on. I have 2 HISS keys and they both do the same thing.
HISS light still flashes when key is removed tho.
Any advice welcome.
I have checked the wiring, all looks good to me.
I think the keys are not talking to the ECU???
Thanks
Why would you do that???

HISS problem

My only experience here is a chip key on a Mini. There's a small transponder somewhere in/around the key lock that is broadcasting and waiting for a response from an embedded RFID chip in the key. If your keys are original I'd be checking for wiring damage around the lock area or corrosion at a connector.
There's a section in the service manual 24-31 that describes the VTR system and how to get into diagnostic mode.
