Bike turns but won't start

Post by VTR3545 »

Hi....went to run the bike this morning and starter motor turned over but bike won't start and after approx 10 secs of trying get a loud single knock-clunk from the bike....what could be the cause.

For info bike ran great last time started approx 6 weeks ago.....up on stands and connected to an optimate.....never had any starting issues

Cold/freezing weather starting esp after a long lay up will stress the battery. Charge it back up and turn it over for a second or three - switch off and rest it and then apply choke / no throttle and try again. If you flood it rest it again for 5 minutes to clear.

If you haven't done so already check under the rubber hood on the starter motor and check the terminal for corrosion / grease it up.
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

I Always keep the battery in the warm if I’m parking it up for a while .
Cold is a battery killer
