Dyno charts and Setup

Post by VTRDark »

After playing with my carbs for so long and not really knowing how accurate a job I have been doing, today I decided to take the bike for a quick run, well two runs it turned out to be. One run for each cylinder/Can. They only had the one probe so done a run with it shoved up the left can and then the right. I have managed to do a pretty good job by seat of my pants. The left side is out of whack because of my dodgy small diameter mandrel bend where I have attached the pipe to the header outlet. :( I will go to an exhaust place and have a proper one made up as this one is messing things up.

Image
Red line is the Right hand side pipe which is giving out 104.77bhp and 97.16Nm torque.
Blue line is the Left side and giving out 106.1bhp and 98.46Nm torque.

Carb Setup

Factory Pro Jet Kit
Standard filter and running two standard long velocity stacks.
Front carb
178 main
48 pilot
needle clip 2rd from the bottom
standard 10though shim
A/F done by ear
rear emulsion tube the same as rear

Rear carb
180 main
48 pilot
needle clip 2rd from the bottom
Added 20thou standard 10though shim
A/F done by ear

I will get the link pipe/mandrel sorted and see what happens then. But as is stands going by the Red line for the right side I feeling it need to be a tad richer and maybe up the mains by one size, maybe go 180 and 182. I would like to put the BMC filter back in for the Summer as well. I hoping if I get things running good with the BMC whilst the warm summer weather is here, then when it comes to winter and it leans off a bit from the cold, then I could just chuck the standard filter in to richen it up a bit. So Standard filter for Winter and BMC for Summer. That's my aim anyway.

Foe any comment or discussion on this, please discuss in the following thread.

I have since richened the needles 1 clip. Yet to do another run to see where things are at now.

I'd only got as far as "Inormous"
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
