Has anyone got a good one of these?
After getting storm 2 going over the weekend , when i went in the garage yesterday i could smell petrol.
Today when i looked it was quite clear i had a fuel leak.took the fuel pipes off and petrol is still flowing out of the outlets so it looks like the diaphragm has gone ?!!!
Also the filter is in a bit of a state as well as the o ring.
So has anyone got a working tap and a good filter???
Worse come to worst i will have to buy a repair kit but a still need a filter
Thanks
Brian

Re: Early petrol tank tap and filter
You'll find that the fillters swell up so taking them out tends to fek them up...
Best buy a new fillter.
You can get repair kits which have a new diaphragm in the kit.

Thanks mac - thats whats happened to the filter.
Bit confused looking at those kits as they seem to have two sort of diaphragm pieces - mine seems to be one piece????
Or am i just confused !!!'

Yes you are... Smaller one is on the inside IIRC so you cant see it untill you take it all apart...

Re: Early petrol tank tap and filter
I already had it to in pieces.
Is there a sort of piston thing the diaphragm fit onto?
Sure someone will have done this

Re: Early petrol tank tap and filter
If you've had it apart you'll KNOW there was a piston with a circular seal either side, and a spring.
Smaller seal inboard.
Smaller seal inboard.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
Re: Early petrol tank tap and filter
I didnt know if what looked like a piston thing was a part of the diaphragm, and i was afraid to start pulling it apart.
I presume the seals in the kit fit onto that piston.
Very sadly im not a storm expert and very unsure sometimes

Re: Early petrol tank tap and filter
The seals just push onto the stub on the smaller (nearest the front of the bike) side- pull them off the piston and you will see the groove where the replacement needs to sit.
