LH front fairing in red

Post by jchesshyre »

Had a spill on ice in my road yesterday and need a red front fairing, just the left side.

Sorry, can't help with that one, but are you alright?

Yes, totally fine thanks Tony. Slight bruise to my left hip and shoulder and a small graze on my knee. I was doing probably less than 10 mph.

I was SO annoyed though because I knew it was icy - completely invisible black ice. As I was coming back along the road that my road is off (which is usually gritted but not as much as main roads) I thought 'right I'll take it very carefully along here and then even more so in my road', then noticed a woman cycling along the pavement (the pavements were even more slippery than the roads) and thought 'maybe I should warn her' then as a combination of being distracted by this and being nearly home I turned into my road in absolute autopilot and the bike went straight down with no warning at all. Complete sheet ice. I should have done what I did the other day during the snow and got off at the junction and wheeled it. AND I should have been riding my CB500 which doesn't break when you drop it - as I have been every day since this cold weather started for exactly this reason :Mad3:

That's a right bugger mate, glad you are ok.

They just don't bother gritting these days, bloody cost cutting or In Some cases it's to avoid liability!!!! If they grit and you fall it's their fault, if the don't grit and you fall it's your own fault!!! Decking crazy world we live in now

Which grit do they use for teeth?
If its the same I'll get my open face lid out.

I'm sorry to hear what happened, but glad you are okay.
Black ice gives you no warning whatsoever I know only too well.

I doubt if you had got off at the junction and pushed it would have made any difference, as you wouldn't have been able to stay upright once the bike and you made contact with the ice,

Chris.
