FOUND A SHIPPING SOLUTION
So I need to ship my bike from Toronto to Newcastle. Contacted my local Honda Dealer and asked if they could use a crate that they get the new bikes in and mod it to take my bike. They collected the bike from my home, put it in the crate and delivered it back...all in for 180 pounds...
Now just got to find a place to live in the UK and we're sorted!

Good idea, never thought of that myself
Slowly approaching the more bikes than birthdays achievement
Re: FOUND A SHIPPING SOLUTION
You may want to reconsider sending the VTR over, we are all converting to building Arks at the moment as most of the country is now officially a boating lake!!

Re: FOUND A SHIPPING SOLUTION
Got the wife to thank for the idea! Apparently Honda used to use heavier gauge stronger angle iron shipping crates and collect them back, but with freight costs the way they are, they now send the bikes in disposable crates. The one in the pic with my bike in it was used to ship a VTX700, but the wheelbase was virtually same as the VTR. There's a big cardboard box slips over the whole thing...but left it off for now until the bike is handballed in to the container.
Normally the dealers just throw the crates our for scrap! So they just charged me the labour.
Heard about all the flooding down south...not good at all! Over here its been minus 18 most of the week and today we have lots of sun and a balmy minus 17. Time to dig out the Speedo trunks...

Great idea. So is this a permanent move to Newcastle? I'm only about 25 miles away from there. Happy o say we've no flooding up here, just loads of rain.

Re: FOUND A SHIPPING SOLUTION
Yep, we're moving back after 11 years in Canada...time to try something new...we're moving up to Whitley Bay in March. Pro's and con's to any country that you live in, but the 5 month winters really are naff.
Originally we're from West Yorkshire (don't hold that against me!) but fancied the coast for a change. Bishop Auckland is pretty close so we might hook up for a meet...
Can't wait to get on to those Northern roads on the VTR! Need to get used to how close the towns are to each other compared to Canada...Whitley Bay to Blyth...10 minutes...Blyth to Amble...15 minutes...quite a difference to where we live now.

Yeah it'll be good to hook up for a ride out and a coffee. Good luck with the move.
