Miss Your Storm - Would you? Do You? Why?
Re: Miss Your Storm - Would you? Do You? Why?
Good question Do I etc - to be honest I'm not sure - had this one 6 months now and I can say it's OK! Yes it looks good and comfy but I have better performing, sounding and handling bikes. So far no problems but the last guy really looked after it.
I will see when I finally get it on track to what i really think - i know it's not a race bike etc but that will be my judgement day whether I keep it. But then I'd have another dilemma what to get? I've owned a lot and ridden even more being involved in bike trade
But then gain I bought this bike because I needed something fun, reliable and needed quickly as I was without transport - do I regret it....Nope not at all - would I get another probably in the same situation - if my numbers came up no I woudn't

Richie...press that button...mind you..best not,or we'll never find out how he gets on with his dark teal streetfighterTimbo wrote:Mike, i am exactly the same about my last Storm. Left the stickers on it, left a couple of spares under the seat with the tools and told the dealer to tell the guy about this forum, which he did. All i know abgout mine was it ended up in Ayrshire somewhere. So if any of you chaps north o' the border spot a black storm, reg R***FMA, let me know.FirestormMike wrote:The only thing I miss is not knowing where it is. I was hoping the new owner would've turned up on here, as I left vtr1000.org stickers all over it.
Would be nice to know it's in the hands of someone who's going to look after it.
Rich, get your warning button ready![]()
Course, being up in Scotland there is only a slight chance the new owner -
A) Has a computer.
B) Has electricity to run said computer.
C) Has enough brain power to switch said computer on.
D) Is sober long enough to switch it on and use it.
E) Has any desire to socialise with a load of southern softies from darn sarf!!! (and that is all of us south of Hadrians Wall)
Naturally, the above (With the exception of E) doesnt apply to those of you already on the forum that reside up there, you are here and therefore have all of the above

to be honest I cant really see me getting rid of mine , even though I bought the mille, I've just spent to much time and money on it , and would never recoup that if i sold it, and i still love the bass line from the remus cans

I am always looking and admiring other machines. I popped over to my local Honda dealer the other day and it dawned on me that he had nothing in the showroom that I wanted or would swap my storm for.........Is it going to be a timeless classic......probably not........but right here, right now I would only change my bike for an up to date modern version of the storm if Honda ever got around to it.
The smiles per miles factor, certainly outweighs the negatives of poor tank range and soggy suspension etc.
OK...OK I admit it I'm having an affair with my bike

i sold my storm a couple of years ago!! work and back was the sum total of my riding and it got to me because previously i was always on ride outs or trackdays (trackdays were about evey 4>6weeks at the peek)
i missed my beloved bike from the moment i helped the bloke push it into the van ready for its new life in bristol!!
now ive just got another one, and my work life will once again allow me to behave like a big kid again!!

my old love!!!!

Voted don't miss it, purely because I am made up with the blade.
The torque of the storm is equally matched by the extra 70 odd horses the blade has, it handles better, better tank range, quicker, seems to be comfier riding position even though it has a board for a seat.
If anything I miss the Micron race cans on the storm, but the howl from the blade makes up for it (Standard can seems to change tune at 7000 rpm) will likely upgrade for a full race system when the pennies permit
Would I have another storm, if the blade had to go, and money was tight, I prolly would

Voted dont miss it but only becuase I have discovered the SP. I missed the Honda V twin heart beat when I had the Blade, I would not blame anyone for wanting a GSXR1000/Blade over a Storm or SP as they are brilliant bikes that do evertyhthing better....and I mean everything. Just didnt have that sense of occasion for me (plus having to buy shares in Motul for the Blade
)

Re: Miss Your Storm - Would you? Do You? Why?
I voted i do miss mine
I like my Bandit 12 ,but somehow i miss my Firestorm, although tbh i'm not really sure why
The Bandit is just as fast, bigger tank range ,and handles just as good,if not better, than my storm which had standard suspension
Plenty torque with the Bandit as well.....i certainly haven't noticed myself going up n down the gears any more so than i did with the firestorm.
With the Bandit being a physically bigger bike, ive got more room on it, i dont have so much pain in my hips now on long ride outs ,but somehow my back problem is worse , i think due to the harder suspension, and believe it or not,the more upright riding position , i do seem to feel every bump
Maybe i could tinker with the suspension,to help this ,but overall i'm happy with my Bandit ...........would i buy another Firestorm at some point?...................i probably would

yep i missed the v-twin, so i got rid of the honda 650 supermoto & the gpz500(winter bike
) & got myself a sv1000 to keep the bandit company

Re: Miss Your Storm - Would you? Do You? Why?
I changed from an SV650 to the storm and its good but not what i was expecting. The gear change is awful and clunky and nowhere near as slick as the SV, the power doesn't seem to be a great deal more than the SV, its scary in the wet, hard work in town and the annoying rattle will probably see the storm leaving my garage for good if i cant sort it. I should hate it but on the open road it all pails into insignificance and its big smiles all round again.
I'm sitting on the fence at the moment.
