Bazza's Manual CCT conversion.

Post by bazza696 »

I had already posted this in the freebies for your knackered CCT's but I will post it here for ya to view as I am well chuffed with the outcome.
I would have posted pictures earlier, but the first lot I did went straight in the bike and did not have time to take pictures.

These are for Chris, the only difference with these to the first lot that are in my bike is that I put a different nut on the top to make it look a bit more presentable, as mine just have another M8 nut pinned on the end.

I have modified the guts of the original CCT to support the bolt at the chain side, because when we tapped the end you put the locking key in there were not a lot of meat there for support. So we played around and used the worm outer shaft by tapping it.

nice job, any trouble with oil seeping through the tapped hole on the rear cct?

done a similar mod to a friends blackbird cct last year, worked great.

Na, I recommend using 273 loctite. I used it on mine and so far no trouble, tried drilling a chamfer on the end to put a rubber seal on, but the crossed slots used to lock off the automatic tensioner with the key are too large, so we shelved that option.

Those look like a job well done to me bazza

So does that mean you now have the bolt going through threads at both ends of the CCT rather than just one end :?:

Chris.

PS. I find a dab of clear silicone on the threads and under the locking nut (and the original end bolt on standard ones) works well, to stop any oil from leaking out.

Yeah I have tapped the original wormed shaft and used that to support the end inside the engine, cause there was not enough meat at the outer end to support the bolt.

Thanks for the info Bazza

That should certainly make it a stronger job.
