Interesting results from the mcn ride logger

Post by tinysmall »

So, having downloaded the MCN ride logger the other day I've discovered some quite interesting stuff. Mostly that I'm sh1t
When giving it the gas, the bike is pulling about 0.5G which is a 20mph increase per second. It will do this pretty much through the entire rev range give or take a couple of mph per second and I suspect with someone better than me it will do a bit more. Think about that, with a perfect start that's 0-60 in 3 seconds and 0-100 in 5! Here's the interesting bit though.... on average (and pretty consistently) from a standing start under hard acceleration it's taking me two and a half seconds to slip the clutch with not much speed being built during that time (about 5-8mph 8O ) and then changing up through the gears it's taking me nearly two seconds to change gear and get back on the gas  Wtf am I doing? That really needs to be worked on methinks. I've also seen now that riding smoother will get me places much quicker than just being ham fisted on the gas

Well, I reckon that's why it's taking me so long to slip the clutch. It's not a conscious thing but I think I just sort of got used to doing it without thinking so I didn't constantly turn it into a unicycle.

Same here :eek2 , but only when the engine is cold.
Once it's warmed up thoroughly, it never does it.
I've learned to ride around it until it's warmed up.

Thats uncanny, Ive just been searching why mine does this and resurrected an old thread, only to read this one!

As for that logger, I tried the Android variant today, but only the freeby which only lasts a mile! Time to upgrade, I was impressed with the first readings. Would be awesome on a track day!

That'll be ok on the drag strip, so sounds like a good idea.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

The Android Equivalent is called "Ride Logger" and yes, would be perfect for the strip!

When you say 1.02G, I take it you mean 0.2G above normal earth gravity because if it was 1.02 above normal, you would have the worlds fastest storm :) at 1G above normal a 15 stone man would be getting pulled off the back with 30 stones of force. You wouldn't be able to stay on the bike. A 10 stoner might have a chance if he is in very good shape.

To be honest, I'm not sure how accurate the G readings are anyway.

If your ride logger means 1.02 G as in .02 above normal, then that is just feeble. Man up

lol. At 18 and a bit stone Im prolly lardy enough to hang on! haha

From pulling out onto the A47 and grabbing a fist full. She was shaking her little head about at that point, so was definetly a fist full or RPM.

And then when Im trundling through a 30 zone.

I would THINK its somewhat accurate, certainly the speed will be anyways?

Well fook me. I stand erected
Hmmm in that case it's either me that's the pussy or they just read the G's differently. Have to do some investigating cos I can't have me being a pussy now :)

The speeds should be bang on as long as you have a good signal. More accurate than your speedo at the very least if not 100%.

As for the G's, they are calculated because the phone doesnt have a G-o-meter so there is room for miss calculation I suppose? Dunno.

She has a G spot but I'm not sure you could measure it with your phone.....

if the phone is set to vibrate and you have a splash proof cover it should be OK :eek2
