Not for me, but if you like it then go for it, at least it's in the right colour
For a scooter it looks quite smart,

Most scooter mpg (large engine ones) is worse than a storm, I know which I would rather be on.
Budget storm gradually on the road to spangliness.

Depends, I can see the sense on a commuter- I spend an hour or so each way on the Sarf Cic'ler every day, and a bigger 400+ twist n go with an auto box will do the main part of the journey better than the Storm would. There's only one bit of un camera'd dual carriageway, Sidcup to Swanley on the A20- and all the rest of the journey is a pain, tbh, 'til I'm back on my local roads.
Once I stick the high comps, ignition advancer and cams in it will be worse.

I'm thinking about a big scoot myself, or maybe an XT500 or similar.

Can't afford the KTM 390, but then again neither can my license.....

But a little 200cc two stroke?
I like ska, but don't know if I want to go in that direction too far, buying a parka and considering extra mirrors for my birthday.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

If I had to commute every day on a "bike" I'd buy a scooter

I'm on hols in Kos at the moment and there are hundreds of them about. If it's what you fancy just do it, but I reckon you'll regret it.
The Vespa in white with tricoloure stripes on the rear panel looks very cool.
