Using three camshafts on a V twin engine is new to me,

Yeh that was a suprise to me too. I've seen engines where one cam controls either the intake or exhaust with a rocker run off the cam that controls whichever valve the cam doesn't, but never three cams.

Only because it`s a pushrod engine. If you look closely it has a seperate cam for each exhaust and runs the common cam for the inlets.

All my old Triumphs 650 pre-unit twin engines had one inlet camshaft and one exhaust camshaft, although they were push rod parallel twins,

That's a different style of V, I rode my first Harley last year and was surprised it only revved to 3750 (try one if you haven't), so I guess the Indian will be low revving, for me not so much fun. :?
