LED running lights

Post by Pem Brooke »

Love 'em or hate 'em, those new LED front lights add extra awareness...so I bought a pair with a view to fitting one just under the headlight (below the fairing) on my Storm. They arrived today. There are three wires on each light;
Red...says 'to ignition'.
Black....says to 'negative ground'.
There's also white wire that says 'to headlight'.
I need help on what goes where...I tried using the front sidelight wiring and connecting the red and black, but didn't work...
Anyone wired one of these??
Here's the link to E Bay...the light will fit well...just need to work out the wiring! Did a search but couldn't see the solution.

Cheers.
Twist it 'til it breaks, then back off half a turn.... :eh:

Seems like you need to connect to a switched live as well that allows it to work when the headlights on.

There's a wiring diagram in the Haynes, or a scanned copy if you search the forum.
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

as I understand it the one that goes to the headlight will turn the running lights off when you turn the headlight on .
so it needs to go to the dip terminal really

years ago i sore a strip of led in the headlight
so brought myself a set(2 strips)
unstuck the headlight (no easy),fitted the leds and about a month later they had gone wrong so repeated the same thing with the other strip and month later you guessed it , went wrong
so i gave up

but what i do know is that an led has to be wired one way round
positive has to go positive
not like a normal bulb which doesn`t matter what way round the terminals go
