Soooo NOT happy!!

Post by VTRid3r »

Hi guy's. My YTX16-BS battery came today for my Storm. How excited was I? Filled her up, waited an hour then put it on the bike. She started 1st time. Oh yeah baby!! Ride time!! Took her out for a nice little run approx 30 miles and all is/was good. Upon my return I noticed battery acid dripping from the battery compartment down the frame and onto the swing arm which is now burnt with run, drip, and a pool mark from where the acid gathered. I've waited a while for this battery as I'm on a tight budget from the holiday and the big spend out for the bike a month ago. Sh^t don't rain on me it pours.
Checking the battery out I noticed the acid was leaking from around the positive terminal. Bubbling in fact. The battery was not hot so it wasn't overcooked. The new rectifier was doing it's job. So Not happy to say the least and await a reply from the dealer and see what they say.
I've had the bike for 4 weeks now. 3 weeks it was off the road due to the faulty rectifier cooking the previous battery. New rectifier and now battery and it's now off the road again.
Perhaps I wasn't destined to have another bike!! Think I now need a drink.

P.s. Took some lovely pics of her while I was out tho. :D

Hopefully you got the leaky battery out and hosed the bike down pronto :eek2

Dam... that's not good. On the bright side at least it leaked and didn't blow up. You could have had a fire on your hands :eek2

Was not an oem R/R but it's not the old crappy flat type. Got nice big cooling fins on it. I tested it with mm and all seems to be good with it.

Have you got a link from where you bought it or a photo with its code on it?

Lucky you caught it when you did. You might be able to polish off the damage?
