Strange starting problem

I don't use the Storm very often, but with the weather being so hot decided to go to work on it today.
The bike hasn't moved since I got back from the Scotland trip almost 4 weeks ago now.

I came to start it today and it sounded odd. On turnover it was a higher pitch noise than usual and it didn't sound like it was even trying to fire. It kept popping from the exhausts too.

I tried to bump it but nothing.

I kept trying on the button with the throttle fully open and eventually the turn over noise started to sound a little deeper, as if fuel was getting in there and then it fired.

It was low-ish on fuel but not quite on the light.

I've no idea what could have caused it, perhaps a blockage in the fuel line or something?
Any ideas?

Sounds like contaminated S _ _ T _ petrol to me .. unleaded petrol may have evaporated a tad in the hot weather tn the
lines and bowls and ... gummed up sticky crud ... maybe a blast out with fresh petrol will sort it ... no harm to check this
other than that a tank / line blow through and strip down and examine the jets if you feel thats
the way to go.good luck

Sounds like it was flooded. Best to walk away for 10 minutes for the plugs to dry out, before trying again

It sounds like shortage of fuel to me. Could you smell petrol

If you try it again, take out the spark plugs and see if they are wet,

Sounds to me like it had too much of a good thrashing the last time it was out. I take it that it turns over OK and is just not firing straight away. It's probably weather related. Did you have the choke on or not. It might not want that in this hot weather and then flood. Or maybe there is a Haggis in the airbox.

Yeah it sounded like it was turning over, but it sounded higher pitch than it should be, as if there was no resistance in the cylinders or no compression.

I'm thinking the same. They always turn over a bit quicker when there is no fuel to increase the compression. What about the fuel tap/diaphragm? could be sticking or maybe a leak in one of the vacuum lines
