In that case when you get to the rotor, there will be a through hole in the anti-rattle gear. There is a threaded hole in the main gear behind the trough hole.
So take a cover bolt and lock the 2 gears together (I usually use a cable tie on the other side of the gear just because) and then you can remove and replace the ignition rotor without loosing the springs or needed to reset the spring tension when putting it all back together.

Forum legend has it the removing the scissor gears gains half a bhp.
Every little helps...
It also reduces the rotating inertia but the difference isn't noticeable
But it doesn't get appreciably noisier, so why wouldn't you remove them?
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

I agree and I did take a good look when I torn down my old engine. There is no issue removing it as even the ignition rotor doesn't change location whether it is there or not.
Then again I have also removed all the damping rubbers in the clutch cover and sprocket cover also.

Though I can also see why some folks might not want to mess with it. That is why I posted the easy way to leave it in place and not loose the spring tension.
Clamping the gears together makes the job very easy.

So run whatever makes you happy and either way the hardest part of the job is tracing down the plug for the pulse generator pick up....it's on the other side of the bike behind the rad.

It will have "VTR1000f" instead of a MBB part number.
If the markings are worn off there are 2 other ways to tell

You need it on a bike for the first check which is the HRC box doesn't "see" the side stand. The light will still function but you can put it in gear and ride off with the stand down.
Much safer than the second way to check which is to see if it will rev past 10.3K as it has no rev limiter.

There was also a "Moriwaki" ECU but as far as I could ever find out it was actually a HRC box.
