BrianC wrote: Sat Apr 28, 2018 9:58 pm Great morning spent with graham today.

We got the carbs on - only problem being those damned solderless nipples needed on the extended cables for the raised bars
Plastic trims then airbox and i have to say came up with a blinder to fit that damned front breather pipe to the airbox - just disconnect it from the cam cover the fix it to the bottom of the airbox before trying to locate the airbox!!!! Then fit it back to the cam cover - genious!!!
That tells me that you haven't got the plastic plate fitted that goes under the carbs to deflect engine heat?

You will have just as much trouble trying to get the vent pipe to go through that if you connect it to the airbox first.
What plastic plate!!!!

Put these on after Brian left...

God, they're very thin. Try not to drop it above walking pace....

There should be a plastic deflector plate that fits below the carbs.
Have a look at Haynes or the parts diagrams on here.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

As for the hooters nice work ! however I'd sugest if you havent already done it, offer up the fairing to check fit. You may find that the headlight shell now has no where to go... Theres not a lot of room in there with the fairing on. If it does fit well done but you also need to check they dont smash into the mud gaurd on full compresion of the forks...

I've tried all sorts to fit a better horn in place of the std one with no joy...

There is this option tho...c/o Jonesy...

Top man Mac  many thanks for taking the time to post up the photo :D

TaxiDriver, as Mac points out (re the new horns) you are very limited for room. Check what he suggests for clearance just in case.
I have also spent plenty of head scratching time trying to workout a suitable place for better horn(s), it's not easy on a bike with a fairing,

Chris.

I put two headlight relays where you have those horns and they only just fitted.....

Yeh busted,I'll have to rethink the mounting of the horns, although I have seen a way to do it.

Well after all the work I finally fired her up today......

Super smooth sounding engine and the cans make it sound like a race bike......  :D

What is this heat shield?

Is it the 'plastic cowl' as referenced In the mcct installation guide .

I have done two of these before helping graham so very confused now.

The parts diagram doesnt help with my confusion !!!

Yes Brian it appears to be the black cowl that we installed first before fitting the carbs.

I think the confusion is with my description of what we did so i'll try again.

Breather pipe is located as it should be , through heat shield/plastic cowl.

If you them disconnect pipe from cam cover you can then get enough movement upwards of the pipe so you can push it onto the airbox spigot before settling the airbox down.
You then wriggle the pipe over the spigot on the cam cover.

Hope that is clearer?

Please chip in graham if I'm talking baldrocks !!!

This should clear things up

It's actually possible to slip a hand in front and underneath the metal spar that runs across the frame. If you are skinny enough it's possible to get a hand right underneath and feel the pipe, slip it on and even connect the clip if you feel the need to. Well, that's what I do.

Thanks for the picture dark

So its the breather pipe at the front on the left - really hard to get it on the airbox spigot.

We undit this at the cam cover end which allows you to pull the pipe up a bit and onto the airbox spigot before settling the airbox down again. Then connect the pipe back to the cam cover
