So fuel tap leaking so brought a petcock repair kit and still leaking ?

You have to actually fit it, Geoff.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

But assuming that you fitted it...

Did you put the spring in the correct side?
It's there to hold it closed unless the engine vacuum is pulling it open.
It's possible to fit it on the wrong side of the diaphragm.
Also, check you didn't damage the new diaphragm fitting it- and didn't refit the old one by mistake.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
